breakfast was really good

outside was very noisy, like some party with music and dancing and closed windows didn’t help. luckily they were not active till too late

I stayed at Hotel Victoria from 13th to 15th May 2026 with my parents, and we had a lovely stay. We stayed in Strasbourg to break up an interrailing journey, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The hotel was clean, comfortable and stylish and was a lovely stay overall. We were welcomed by Luis, who was super lovely, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel is located in a quiet street, about a 10 minute walk from the train station and about a 15 minute walk from the old town in Strasbourg. It was the perfect location. Breakfast was lovely too and had a lovely selection of items.

The breakfast room is very small and most tables are made for sharing with other guests. I personally prefer individual tables, and found the breakfast room far too small for sharing. The seats were also very uncomfortable and were more like stools, with no back. This was quite uncomfortable when eating. The lift in the hotel is also absolutely tiny and quite claustrophobic. Even though it says it can hold up to 4 people, you can really only fit 1 person and luggage, or 2 people without luggage max. at any one time. The stairs to the rooms are in the form of a very steep, winding staircase, so the lift is essential for people with luggage and also limited mobility. I also overheard one of the staff members (small, middle-aged lady helping with breakfast) on the last day (15th May) moaning to herself about the guests whilst clearing the table next to me after the guests had left after breakfast. Although my French isn't brilliant, I understood enough to know that she was moaning about the guests that had been sat at that table - perhaps it was a little messy after breakfast and she didn't like the fact that she had to clear up the plates, etc., but that was her job I believe? This made me feel uncomfortable and quite disappointed with that member of staff. This would potentially prevent me staying again, as clearly not all staff members are happy in their jobs and this lady in particular made it quite vocal and obvious to other guests. She probably thought I didn't understand what she was saying as I'm English, but I did. This negative attitude towards guests makes the guest feel unwelcome and more like a nuisance. This has resulted in me having to give a lower rating overall than I wanted to for the hotel. All other staff members were super friendly and helpful, but unfortunately that one lady really spoilt breakfast and my experience at the hotel on the last day.
