"Nice little hotel"

8.0

We wanted to stay at Avignon but it was full since there was a festival that weekend so we stayed at this lovely little hotel. It was a nice surprise since we were not expecting a lot. Rooms are nice, could use a little update in furniture and carpets, but still have a nice antique flare. The restaurant for breakfast is outdoors in a nice patio full of trees and nature. Owner always there.

"Nice but not worth the miney"

6.0

We stayed here four nights and had the lathe apartment which we paid €480 a night. Yes the apartment is good, the grounds are nice but the hotel doesn't make you feel good staying there. Here are the negatives. The push you to dine st the restaurant, you must notify them by 5 pm. There's no free water in your rom or bed down Igor service. The free wifi kicks you out every 10 minutes. A few times we even called and they had to reset their internet modem. A few days we were first to the pool (around 10) and there was only 3-4 towels. Pool is full of pine needles; no one is there to clean it. Overall they are NOT a 4 star hotel more like 3.

"Totally not our style"

2.0

First of all some positive news: the garden looks wonderful. But then comes the bad news... we were given a room in the chapel. From the outside it looked wonderful, the ground floor of the chapel is very nice... and then you get into an elevator that brings you to the second floor (third floor for US readers)... a small hallway, totally ugly and unfurbished... and a door with a key that needs a manual on itself (this isn't the bad thing, believe me) and when Sesame opens his doors, you enter... an old, unimaginable, oldfashioned, outsmoked (yes!) room! (When we asked: is this a non-smoking room, the answer was 'yes' but you could definitely smell smoke in the room AND there were ashtrays in the toiletroom and bedroom! Ok, besides this: the furniture was yellowed (as were the doors) from the smoke, they hadn't been changed since the sixties (was our conclusion) and what bugged us most of all: the bathroom wasn't seperate from the bedroom! (Luckily, the toilet was) We can understand people would see the charm and would like the room but we are used to a lot more than this and okay, it's not our style, but when we booked, we looked at photos online on their website, which gives a completely different look on the room! We do not like to pay €250/night to sleep in a depleted room, where old smoke still hangs around. Breakfast is €25/person... too expensive!! We decided to stay two of the four booked nights so we asked the host/hostess if we could make a deal (to get reimbursed some of the money), they were unwilling to even think about it! They even didn't have the guts to tell us ourselves. Change of room was their counter offer (but if this one was bad, the others were sure to be as bad!) or stay two nights on their expenses on another trip... stupid offer, cause we didn't like it now, why would we ever change our mind about that... Never again! Btw, I sure hope the hosts read this, and I await an answer (which I'm sure there won't be!)

"A wonderful stay overall"

8.0

Really enjoyed my stay here. I wanted a rustic French retreat, and in many ways, The Auberge delivered! Rooms were cheerful and clean, yet still had wifi and modern amenities. The terrace view was awesome and a highlight! The hotel accommodated early check in, an afternoon snack request, and had a yummy French breakfast, which they prepared quickly and brought to our room. Staff were helpful and happy to accommodate requests. I honestly wish we had more time to explore the grounds and really enjoy the space. A few minor things prevented me from giving the hotel top marks. Leaving our window open resulted in a few bees and flies in the day, and several mosquito bites and night! Hotel had a de-cork of charge of 25€ to open your own wine, which I wish could have been waved since it was to accompany an afternoon snack we bought from them. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, though I wish concierge service (e.g., assistance booking day options) had been offered. Finally, bathroom was clean but some updates (e.g., spa tub) would have increased the retreat feel. Minor comments that would have taken our experience from great to really excellent. Also, a tip: food was pricy without other options close by, so if you're on a budget, plan ahead! Would be happy stay there again!

"Why you should definitively check this place?"

10.0

You will read some soso review from this place coming from people who don't look for the things you find here or have a relationship with money which allow them to be the sole judge. You will find here france and Provence. The place to have diner is unique being outside under 200 years tree. Food from a chef who can guarantee the origin of each product , who has been the Seychelles lemuria chef is awsome. The pool is very big and quiet. And the room. Well ok they are old and if you are used to international standard just pick room 26. Ah if you pick an hotel because Booking.com provides a discount don't go there, it is too expensive for you. We are priviledged to still have access to properties family owned like this one. Just go there this is Provence and france. I do travel a lot and I have zero relationship with anybody in hospitality business.

"Gastronomic pit stop"

8.0

Been here 4 times for dinner and stayed 3 times previously. Still a beautiful setting with a great wine list. Loved the pool restaurant and the perfect idyllic location between Cap Ferrat previous destination and Burgundy. Staying with 6 meant 2x old mouldy rooms with constant noise of running water. We arrived late evening had a very late dinner slept very well and left early.Too tired and Not bad enough to complain as noise was in the kids room but l would almost want a half price rate on accommodation to use the hotel again, and l booked direct (780 euro) not some half price internet special. Overall go to the restaurant but eat as simply as possible and order great wine, it is still a great draw card that l would return for!

"Grand Style"

10.0

We loved our room -- it was spacious, grand and had a beautiful view! Our first night was wonderful, the second was a little buggy due to my husband leaving our balcony door open and inviting in some unwelcome guests! The grounds were gorgeous and had beautiful gardens and patio.

"Echoes of the Belle Epoch "

8.0

The hotel is definitely one to save for a treat for yourself and family. It is a grand hotel in the old sense and not having a huge number of rooms is exclusive. The rooms are very individual (this is not a Hilton) but at €195 per room per night the prices are top London. The bedrooms that my family occupied had balconies overlooking woodland and were furnished in period style with grand beds and large wooden wardrobes. The bathrooms were a good size but the plumbing is a tad out dated with a hand held shower in the bath in our room; not satisfactory. Also bathrobes hung from a plastic hook stuck to the tiles..and falling off. Not five star! The hotel has a gastronomic restaurant which is truly excellent. We had a large family dinner for nine people and starters and mains were superb in both quality and presentation. Puds were a disappointment but l'm not a great fan of the sweet stuff. The main rooms of the hotel are very stylish with a glorious terrace which is a lovely place to share a bottle or two of rose in the afternoon or a pre-dinner fizz. The restaurant too is a stylish room. The service is great, for example one of our party asked for an ironing board and a maid arrived to iron the shirt for him. The only disappointment was that the staff clearly thought the swimming pool would not be used in April (forgetting British or German guests) so the changing rooms were full of leaves and there were no pool towels. Overall a memorable place with great restaurant but a tad expensive given some of the shortfalls.
