Hotel Château Des Alpilles

Wonderful location, grounds, and staff. If you can get a room here, I would highly recommend staying here. The grounds are extensive and beautifully maintained and very peaceful. The staff make the place even better because they are so attentive and helpful. In particular, Vlad was the best at making us feel at home, helping us with our luggage and with our sightseeing plans.

This was a hotel experience that exceeded my expectations. The hotel is an old Chateau that was a family home and has been in the family for almost 100 years and was turned into a small hotel years ago that is run by the family. It is gorgeous and the gardens and property are stunning. Our room was not in the main chateau but in the old chapel which was the most beautiful, modern room but with all the old walls and beams. Stunning, and the best bed/linens ever. The staff was so accommodating. We had trouble with our rental car and they spent over an hour making calls on our behalf and figuring out how we could get the car back after a flat tire. (That sounds simple but it was not...they had 2 people working on it for us.) The food was amazing, the pool setting was gorgeous. I cannot say enough about this experience. I felt like I was in a French countryside novel setting and yet we were a 20 min walk to downtown St Remy. This location was fantastic. St Remy and the area was so accessible to this location. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely stay here again!

This year we were very disappointed with the quality of the accommodation and the staff. We had booked accommodation at the Chateau and were accommodated in the garden house. The room was uncomfortable, the coffee maker did not work, no tea kettle, the room was furnished like in some old office, the switches were dirty, the floor was ruined, everywhere you look there is something scratched and not repaired. Overall the room did not correspond to the quality of a 5 star hotel. Also the price was 50% higher than it should be. The reception staff were not helpful at all and they were not interested in our objections at all. Try doing some research at Chateau de Foscolombe. At least you will see how the staff should behave towards the guests and how they should be helpful and accommodating. The tasting and experience dinner was excellent. We were not offered breakfast.

Everything about this hotel is superb. It is truly a château, the rooms are wonderful, the staff amazing, the grounds fabulous and the food exceptional. It is just 1.5km outside the charming town of St Remy. We stayed 3 days in May and toured around. Go see Van Gogh's asylum. And the Roman town of Glanum.

Sometimes, breakfasting on the terrace, or having drinks, the service was a little slow.
