Auberge du Petit Matelot

This is a fine -basic hotel. Nothing fancy, but nothing bad. My only complaint is that planned to arrive about 14:00 (the ususl check in time) but received a message saying the office would be closed that day until 17:00. We arrived a couple of minutes after the time and had to wait more than 15 minutes until the owner showed up. He was apologetic and I found him to be a helpful, likeable and talkative (in English) guy. The area was pretty and within about 15 minutes of the Carnac allignments.

Excellent accueil, les propriétaires se montrent très disponibles pour orienter les clients vers les meilleurs sites ou resto de la presqu'île.

Il faudrait envisager une réfection complète de la salle d'eau vétusté de la douche, robinetteries usagées,fuyantes et difficiles à manoeuvrer Chambre bruyante (route et voisinage)

Séjour court (1 nuit) mais très plaisant. Accueil sympa, bons conseils avec carte à l'appui pour nous indiquer les restaurants à proximité. Petit déjeuner sans surprise mais très correct.

Loved staying there. We extended our stay because of several factors: it is quiet and untouristy (unlike the town of Quiberon); the proprietor, Louis, has a wonderful dry sense of humour and is always helpful; the excellent beach is 2 mins walk away; the little train station is about 7 mins walk away; the Alignments are a short drive away (easily reached by train and bus in the summer); a bakery, bar and a delightful restaurant are a short walk away. The Petit Matelot quickly becomes less a hotel and more a friendly, welcoming place for old friends. We would return there if we ever returned to Brittany. Best to have a car, as trains are not too frequent.

This is a lovely, clean and comfortable little inn within walking distance (two to five minutes) of two beaches, one on the Atlantic side, with significant waves when we were there, and one on the Quiberon Bay that is much calmer. The owners are really friendly and happy to provide advice on things to see and do in the area.
