Amazing location and super easy check in and out

The spa was a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the views.

We did struggle that there was no aircon or even fan to get the air moving in the room.

This is a difficult place for me to review because, in fairness, I booked what I believe was one of the very best rooms in the hotel and assumed the rest of the hotel would be of a similar standard. To be fair to the team there, the room itself was excellent. I had a suite on the eighth floor with fantastic views, and I really couldn’t fault it. It was spacious, comfortable, and genuinely very nice. The issue for me was that the rest of the hotel didn’t quite match the expectation I had built up from the photos on Booking.com. The pictures aren’t necessarily inaccurate — the room photos are right — but they don’t really capture the true feel of the hotel once you’re there. Online, it comes across more like a smart, four-star-style alpine hotel with lovely log-themed rooms. In reality, parts of it felt darker, more tired, and more budget-focused than I expected. The corridors, for example, are very red with a lot of grey, and they felt quite dark and dingy. The lift also had a very strong smell of cleaning fluids, which wasn’t pleasant. The public areas downstairs were better — light, with a nice bar, a good breakfast area, games tables, snooker tables, and a few other facilities — but the overall atmosphere still felt very much aimed at walkers, hikers, cyclists, and outdoor activity guests. That is not necessarily a criticism, because this is Chamonix after all, and I suppose I should probably have realised that the hotel would be heavily geared towards that market. If you are there for walking, biking, skiing, hiking, or outdoor activities, then the hotel probably makes a lot of sense. It has good facilities, a sauna, a relaxed feel, and the parking was absolutely fantastic — very secure and reassuring. There was also a bit of an odour in parts of the building, which I assume comes from lots of outdoor activity guests returning after long days out. There was also some smell of weed outside at times, which didn’t help the overall impression. So my review real

What I didn’t like about the hotel was that the moment I walked into the lobby and entrance area, I realised it wasn’t quite the standard I had expected from the photos online. The entrance and reception area felt quite basic, and my immediate impression was that this was more of a two-and-a-half to three-star-style hotel rather than the more premium alpine hotel I thought I had booked. The corridors were also a big part of that impression. They felt grey, dark, and a little grubby in places, with cleaning trolleys regularly left around. The lifts were quite small too, and there was a very strong smell of cleaning alcohol or disinfectant in them, which was not particularly pleasant. None of this ruined the stay, especially because my actual room was very good, but the wider hotel experience felt much more basic than expected. It just didn’t have the overall finish, atmosphere, or quality I thought I was booking.
