Hotel de Mecina Fondales

The location was great for walking and sightseeing in the Sierra Nevada! Its closeness to the old white villages made it a great place to stay and very quiet. Victor the owner was so welcoming and made our stay easy and very comfortable. The room was large with a modern bathroom with bath en-suite and we had a balcony with seating. We had heating so the colder evenings were no problem. The style is Moorish and the restaurant and bar large and inviting. There was a great choice of cold meats, cheeses, breads, fruit and yoghurt, and various cereals, spreads and cakes for breakfast. We brought two small dogs and they were welcome everywhere, which also helped to make our stay so nice. Do bring your own dog beds. Highly recommended to all travellers!

As it was winter the restaurant was closed, but this was not a problem as there are two other restaurants a few minutes away. We ate in the Pizzeria and had live music one evening. Drinks, coffee and snacks are available through the day in the cafe/bar.

The stay was very pleasant, the owner of the hostel was very cordial and attentive to everything we needed, the entire hostel was clean and well maintained, we hope to return. Thank you!

Nothing

A perfect spot to rest and enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Gardens, a pool walking trails, bar on site (espresso, cold drinks, nice to have close by) and lots of quiet areas to sit outside. Run by the lovely Victoria, who makes you feel at home.

That I had to leave, I could have easily stayed several weeks.

Knowing that the location was extremely rural and the hotel only 2 star our expectations were not very high, but we could not have been more delighted with everything about our stay. Firstly the hotel is in a pretty village with beautiful walks all around. The room was more than adequate and extremely clean and very well cared for by the chambermaids. The swimming pool is beautifully cared for and a welcome sight after hot day's sightseeing! Victor was the highlight of our stay....a Patron that went way beyond what was asked of him. He was on hand whenever you needed help or advice and happily booked dinner reservations and taxi when and if needed. The surrounding villages are outstanding. All in all we could not have been a better 9 days breakaway.
