"Great quality food"

8.0

The hotel had everything needed for a complete and excellent 3 day stay. Room a bit small but air conditioned. No frills but everything necessary for memorable spa experience all on the pretty. I would definitely go there again.

"Friendly staff"

8.0

1st night of the trip we stayed here before we went to Zagreb. Excellent receptionist and restaurant staff who are friendly and helpful. Our room at the end of 5th floor is a bit out-dated. The bathroom light kept blinking right before we went to sleep. And because we were too tired with jet-lag, we just ignored it and let it be. But the rooms have balconies and it's nice to look out at the snowy scenery in the morning. The dinner and breakfast there were great and delish as we would have some terrible experiences later on during the trip. Only disappointment to me is that we were too tired and didnt have enough time the next day to try their wellness pool, which is recommended here by other TAs.

"Vacation with the locals not other tourists!"

8.0

We loved this old fashioned place! You drive past Lake Balaton, then Lake Heviz. You turn on a side street in Heviz and come to a sad looking property. Don't be sad! Though the rooms are nothing much, you will spend no time in them! My balcony did however look over the interior exterior delights including the thermal fun pool we like to call it! Put on your swimsuit, then complimentary robe, take your towel and thongs and go to the spa! We steamed and cold plunged repeatedly, then joined the fun in the fun pool when the jets came on and propelled us madly in a roundabout! Adults and children careened around the pool; do much fun! Then more jets and waterfalls everywhere. This repeated every 20-30 minutes. We were hooked! Everyone spoke Hungarian; the age range was vast, young to old. The Hungarians sure like to schpritz! The food is ordinary, but it's included and I met the hands down nicest young waiter, Valentin, whose English was wonderful. He made our evening. The lobby is lovely with a big flat screen that showed the Olympics nonstop while we were there. In the evening after dinner, there was a live performance of Hungarian folk music, then a one man band in the lounge where couples were dancing. So stinking cute, all of it. Not pretentious at all. I had a wonderful pedicure. Lots of spa services to pick. Wish hot pool was hotter, that's all. It was a wonderful stopover between Budapest and Zagreb. Since I was traveling with my 13 yo son, I liked how we could be together at the spa.

"great value with wellness too"

8.0

We went to the above Hotel during Easter. The food(self service buffet) was excellent. The facilities were excellent, ie indoor pool, sauna, steam jacuzzi etc. (and yes we went in the outdoor pool too) My son came and was happy with the Wi Fi. Would certainly returned back to this Hotel, Its worth working out the times of the bus which stops at the side of the Hotel. Only set back with heavy luggage its a long walk from the Bus stop in the center. Great Value for the money we paid Thanks

"Outdated but very comfortable Spa Hotel great value for visiting thermal lake"

8.0

This hotel was fantastic value for what you got and while great as a stopover or base to visit lake Balaton or the Heviz Thermal lake (2nd largest in the world) it might not be a place to stay for a week just to use its leisure facilities. Its really focused at Older German couples who want a few leisurely days away and only a handful of staff speak Fully conversant english but there were always a couple on duty who did. We paid something like €70 for one night inc breakfast and for that it was amazing. Its clean, has decent if a little dated facilities (sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool, jacuzzi and outdoor thermal spa pool, all a little small by todays standards but more than adequate to take 6 or 8 people, plus a modern, heated outdoor 25M pool, hairdressers and thermal spa therapies) and service is very good indeed. The Hotel is 2 seperate buildings joined by a long glass passageway and I dont know if one side is posher than the other but if you have difficulty walking I'd make sure you were in the more modern building named "Anna" I think. We were in the older side ("Benjamin") and rooms dont have air conditioning but are very spacious with pleasant ensuite, mini bar and a lift to all floors. Food was in Buffet style both dinner and breakfast. Very Germanic in style with plenty of choice Though nothing outstanding. Not a romantic restaurant more of a motorway services decor with good service, but you will never be hungry! Location is ok. Its easy to find but a bit of a walk to the Thermal Lake (15 mins perhaps) but theres dotto road trains that can take you there and back during the day or else you could drive (theres plenty of parking at the hotel and the lake). We didnt see the town as such but I got the feeling there wasnt much to see other than the lake, which in summer looks wonderful. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for great value on a budget. We were on a motorbike trip and are normally very happy with 2-3* hotels and it was a fantastic place to relax for a day before heading home. However if you're used to 4star hotels and looking for a longer stay with plush modern facilities you have probably arrived 20 years too late, purely because things have moved on not because Hotel Helios has dropped in standard.
