This is definitely all about the experience, an opportunity to immerse yourself in the faded elegance of a bygone era. The location is excellent. It is everything you would expect from the photos and previous reviews. But, it might not live up to everyone's expectations!

Tricky, but I will only try to be absolutely honest. Car parking, it is situated in a residential parking area, the car parking offerred is not guaranteed, it was full and no alternative advise was forthcoming. I managed to find an alternative nearby but it was more than twice the price. Also, it falls within the ZLT Zone as a protected historical area and you have to pay for each day you drive in that area, you can do this on an app. but it is not straight forward and no info or warning of this was offered. The rooms are not on the first floor, they are on the second, 45 steep steps up! We were in the red double room with balcony, very atmospheric but don't imagine sipping your g and t on the balcony with satellite dish for company and a view of crumbling building site / rubbish tip. Also, the local teenagers seemed to delight in using the back alleyways as a race track, with no double glazing it was noisy. The kitchen arrangements are also quaint, no electric kettle we boiled water in a saucepan on a wobbly single electric ring. Yes we did enjoy the experience it was very different from anywhere else we stayed, would we go back... probably not!

Ich habe in La dimora del genio 20 Tage gebucht.Die Gastgeberin PAOLA,so wie auch ihr Sohn Giacomo, sind sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit,ich habe mich wie zu Hause gefühlt. Ich möchte mich nochmals bei Paola bedanken für Ihre Gastfreundlichkeit!! Die Einrichtung ist soo wunderschön,wie in einem Palazzo. Es ist sehr sauber,mein Zimmer,Bad, alles perfekt!!! Die Lage ist sehr gut, viele Sehenswürdigkeiten in Palermo kann man zu Fuß erkunden.. Ich würde gerne wieder kommen!! Werde auch meinen Bekannten empfohlen!!

This property is full of character and interest. It may not appeal to everyone but we adored it. Paula was a perfect host. The location could not be bettered as a base for exploring old Palermo and there were good local restaurants.

It’s not easy to find and not easy to identify when you do get there but a friendly neighbour and Paula herself guided us in.

Wonderful apartment - steeped in history - Paula made us very welcome - would definitely return 10/10 from us 😄😄

Every time I arrived back here I felt calm, so much love and care has been put into this space. It’s very special, such a gorgeous place to stay. Thank you to Paola & her son for being so accommodating.

Very dark- not enough lighting. Air conditioning set at minimum. Too many flights up to room.

We adored Paula's beautiful bed and breakfast, filled with her artwork, antiques and charm, it was like staying in a bijou palazzo. The room stayed cool with air con even in extremely hot sicilian weather and was decorated with charm. Paula was very friendly, accommodating and even brought us croissants one morning. Thank you Paula for the wonderful stay in Palermo, we hope to come again!
