Villa Principe Giovanni

Our room with balcony was excellent. We didn’t sleep the first night because we were very cold. We managed to get blankets the next day. We loved the breakfasts at a neighbouring hotel. Be prepared for stairs and back street adventures.

I thought we were booking a hotel with staff. There are no staff here and the arrangements for check in and out are all very poorly explained. We booked in at one hotel, found it by accident. They closed the next day though. Then our new arrangements were with the hotel where we had breakfast. Nothing is ever well explained, you find things out in a haphazard fashion but the staff are all very friendly and lovely.

Especially the bathroom was quite outdated. We are not tall or big in any way, but had problems with space in the shower. The main turn off with this hotel was the advice to park at their EUR 60 daily rate at the Fratelli Milano parking spot. This is just outrageous price, even for Positano. The following day we asked reference proce elsewhere and renegotiated our daily price to EUR 40. Understand places like Positano are full of pickpockets and other parking bandits, however our hotel should be on our side and not part of the same corruption. These incidents always make me wonder what else we might have missed.

Location was amazing! So close to parking garage but off the beaten path. Views from hotel were superb and the breakfast was delicious.

There was a domestic violence case in the room next to us. I know this is not the hotel’s fault but they handled it very poorly. As if it never happened. At 3 am there was a huge commotion and half the hotel woke up to a drunk woman banging doors etc. this led to an episode the following morning .

The restaurant is gorgeous. Good service from car park to the hotel with porters.

I thought the room had a good view based on the pictures, but it faced into a building.

The room was very clean. The staff at arrival was helpful but there was confusion with the baggage transfer to our room. The bartender was great and the rooftop service was fast and easy.

There are A LOT of steps and the buildings aren’t very well marked.
