Beautiful property, lovely courtyard garden, peaceful location, excellent parking, we are in the restaurant and had a wonderful meal

Beautiful historic building in the heart of the old city. We booked a classic double room through booking.com but on arrival were clearly allocated a much better room than we’d paid for. Beautiful suite in the original building (there are some more modern suites overlooking the garden. Ours had large floor to ceiling windows which opened up to overlook the garden and were beautifully appointed, spacious and provided all the accoutrements you would expect of a 5 star establishment. (Robes, slippers, Elemis shower gels shampoo, lotion, huge bathroom with his and hers sinks) The hotel is located towards the rear of the old town so is a little bit of a schlep with bags from the closest car parks, but you could drive in and drop bags and then park. The concierge provided us with a local parking card so that we could have free parking but this must be asked for at reception, used to release the car and then taken back to the hotel so that’s a bit of a faff. Otherwise parking is circa €30 per 24 hours. Didn’t use the pool but looked lovely, gardens are a little haven and well maintained. Definitely felt like a slice of luxury in the city.

Can’t fault the property at all however I was kept awake by a local bird which was in mating season (apparently this happens only one month each year and we were unlucky) It “beeped” consistently every 15 seconds throughout the night, and I thought it was a smoke alarm with a flat battery. After going downstairs (at 4am) to ask what the noise was, it did eventually stop. Apparently shining a torch at them moves them on, it was a small thing but very annoying, so bring earplugs….otherwise an amazing place.

A really nice hotel with relaxing gardens and indoor pool/sauna. The staff are charming and non-intrusive. Plenty of good shops and restaurants around (although things are generally closed on Mondays, so beware). A short drive to the beach, and convenient for Montpellier. It's a quiet neighbourhood outside the walls of the town, and there's a large free carpark 10 mins walk away if you don't fancy negotiating the hotel's underground carpark.
