La Baia Di Ulisse

Upon arriving after a horrific bus/train/taxi ordeal from the Catania airport, we were given a tacky room on the outside of the first floor (one of the ones pictured with the red bed). The door didn't work and the knob actually fell off so we were taken to the room next door. The shower didn't have hot water and I strongly suspect that these rooms have been broken into and not repaired. We again complained and were shown an inside room that was a studio with a living room/kitchen and a bedroom. The decor hadn't changed since the 1970s or so and the mattress was probably from about then, completely worn out. The stove didn't work at all but at least the shower had hot water. But again the bathroom door handle fell off. It had an in-room safe but that's the only good thing I can say. At least they had a half decent breakfast by budget hotel standards. We were lied to several times by the receptionist who was pushing a 150 euro shuttle from Catania airport (she said there was no train or bus service to Venetico which is completely false), and a tour of the Aeolian Islands and Stromboli volcano that didn't look anything like the tour from Milazzo. Stay there at your own peril...

The hotel is an confortable informal bread and breakfast on the beach. The hotel is right on the beach with a beautiful panorama of Capo Milazzo and the Aeolian Islands. The Rizzo family and the staff were very accomodating. I was in the area to connect with my Sicilian roots and they assisted me with my relatives and helped me with the dialect and with directions to the locales that I wanted to visit.

Tout s'est bien passé avec un très bon accueil en période creuse

Only problem is that this is a Bed and Breakfast. Manager does not live there. We arrived around 3pm. Wall suggested to call either of 2 phone numbers. Our US phones do not work in Sicily. Found a man who had a phone. We called . No Answer. Luckily, manager arrived then.
