"Sense of ripped off"

2.0

The beginning really set the president for the rest of the stay Arrived late at night to discover the place closed and had to find alternative accommodation for the night. This followed by unexpected taxes priced in euros and not dirham a unexpected hidden cost . Despite breakfast being advertised as included it definitely wasn't. What really underlined the overall disappointment was not only was everything priced in euros the fact that i was billed for what I'd consumed every two days the prices seemed to spiral upwards regardless of the fact what i ate and drank was very consistent in amount. The sad thing is the food was very good but this was over shadowed by the extortionate prices and not being able to pay by card Despite the fact there was a card machine in the lobby which again this made me feel iwas being ripped off The whole experience left a bitter feeling and i wouldn't recommend to anyone else

"Great Authentic Place for a Reasonably Prices Weekend exploring Marrakesh"

10.0

We had been a bit worried after reading the reviews, about how difficult this place would be to find - we needn’t have worried. After getting a transfer from the airport we were met at a small drop iff area by the manager, who walked us the short walk to the accommodation. The area within the Unesco Medina but it’s not in the Kim Kardashian part of town , much more in and amongst regular people and families living their lives -that was what we were looking for as we wanted our short trip to try to get the flavour of the city, people and culture. This little Riad is clean, comfortable and seriously only a 10 minute walk from the souks and main square. The walk is straightforward and again the manager kindly walked us there on the first day so that we could get our bearings. Yes its hot, yes its busy, and yes the streets have people , cars, motorbikes and donkeys all sharing the roads and yes some roads are more narrow and perhaps more “under construction “than others- but that is exactly what we came to appreciate- this was the something more authentic and we quickly relaxed into the experience. The manager and all of the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was a lovely . The Manager is also a Chef who has worked and travelled in different countries around the world, so we decided to eat in the Riad one night- and we were not disappointed- the lemon Chicken dish that we had ( as well as the beautiful salads and desert and bottle of local wine) were delicious. We were especially pleased to be served this dish as it was one that had been mentioned , but not tried , when we did a walking nightime food tour of the city- which I would also recommend ! Overall this place is what it is- a pretty and authentic interior, all the facilities you need to use it as a base to explore and friendly very helpful staff who made you fee safe and gave directions or could arrange or suggest sites to see, what to avoid ( basically anyone who says they know a way through the maze of the souks! 😂) Friendly and good value . Would we come back? Yes , I think so- but having explored the city on foot for hours over our long weekend we would possibly mainly use it as a base to get out and see some of the places in the mountains and deserts that surround this interesting and bustling city. I think the biggest compliment as a couple of women travelling together (50+ and 40+) we felt totally safe.

"Very good price and excellent stay"

10.0

The riad was a very exotic place. Even though our reservation was for just one night, we were granted very early check-in. And the host was also perfect. He was always around whenever we needed any help. Very clean, and comfortable as well. Definitely recommended.

Perfect stay. Clean, comfortable and very kind and helpful owner of the place. It was really a relaxing place with all positive experiences. Also, it's in the old city, which was an advantage.

"Best food/sta - Great price- incredible service!!!"

10.0

A beautiful Riad ... and what amazing about it is Awad. He never failed to help us in every way he could. He fed us amazing meals (he was a chef for years). His cooking techniques beat out every fancy and home meal we had in our entire Moroccan stay. You have to ask him for his famous sardine dish (spicy) and the amazing Harira soup that requires a lot skill. The food was perfection. We asked for eggs in the morning and he was happy to comply. They serve wine by the bottle or beer. Really nice guests too. Lovely upstairs patio. He let us use the washing machine one day. Arranged our day trips, getting to the Medina, and even our trip to the desert. He is simply lovely. I have worked in the service business for years and the love and care he showered on us was great. He made sure we didn't get ripped off and gave us great tips. We are two females traveling together. I'm a seasoned traveller and I felt this was a special 'home' like space. It isn't fancy but authentic, but the wifi works well, the water is hot, the food is delicious (AMAZING!) and there is nothing Awad won't do to help you. Oh yes, he speaks great English too (he studied it in college). Also willing to pick you up from the train station. We probably asked him for a million little things and several big ones...no issue at all. You can see he is a beloved person in the neighborhood. I'm an artist and don't like the tourist traps. He made sure to recommend the good stuff...and how to avoid the scams.

"Nice place, tough location"

8.0

The staff of Riad Nerja is simply wonderful. Warm, friendly, unobtrusive, helpful. Great food, nice advice... really first-class. The room (Sultane Suite) was not as great as the pictures led us believe however. And, the air conditioning barely worked (temps outside were in the 110's) Also a tough, mildewy smell. The toughest thing was that the Riad was a 15 minute walk away from the heart of the medina (the Place Djerma, the souks, etc.) We had no problem with directions, but were harassed every single time we went from the Riad to the main part of the medina. Really annoying.
