Dreamhouse Apartments Glasgow West End

Upgraded to a larger apartment. Location is quiet but easily accessible by public transport. Very close to Kelvingrove Park and an easy walk into the city centre. Would definitely return and disappointed it is fully booked for our next visit to Glasgow.

A thorough pre-arrival check would have shown the bathroom radiators were not working and the bulb in one of the bedside lights needed replacing. However, the owners responded quickly to the former problem. Whilst dishwasher and washing machine tablets were provided, a simple welcome pack of salt, pepper and oil would have been welcome.

We stayed at the accommodation for a conference with 6 people. A plus point is: The accommodation looked a bit nicer than in the photos, the beds are comfortable and there is plenty of space for storage. The surrounding is very beautiful with a nice park nearby.

But actually, we had many more minus points unfortunately: The biggest was the communication with the host. One of the latest listings said the toilet was broken, so we booked and had to ask several times to get a response that confirmed it was fixed by now (which was true; but the toilets felt like they were almost falling out of the wall when sitting down). For communicating regarding arrival, we had to call the host 1 hour prior to arriving (which is already not great being in a different country and perhaps having to pay extra to call internationally), we told them our expected arrival time as we were on a public bus from Edinburgh. Just before Glasgow, the bus encountered a closed street and had to take a detour of 40 minutes. We called the host again that we would be a bit later, and they said that they would only be able to wait for 45 minutes and then we would have to see how we can get the key (why make it so complicated and not use a keybox???). We eventually ran from the station to the house with half of the group (the taxi group was slower even) in order to get the keys (this is not the service you expect when you leave 1600€ with someone). The payment was also weird in the end: After we left, we received a message 2 days later that they could not take the money from my bank account (as the bank information was already deleted from booking.com by the time they tried to get the money, they said) and send me a link to pay. It sounded very sketchy to me, so I had to call the customer service, who then called the host to confirm it was not a scam. Apart from all this extra stress: We only had 2 keys for 6 adults who did all different things in Glasgow. So one of us always had to stay awake in the night until everyone was back to open the door (again, a keybox would solve this issue). And what just hurts in my heart is that there were only metal scrapers available to be used for the pans; so we tried to not cook too much with them.

Perfectly located on Glasgow's West End in walking distance to the city centre, the University of Glasgow and Kelvingrove Park just around the corner. Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street, both just minutes away, with their many choices for food and drinks, are great for both lunch and dinner. The flat was in a quiet neighbourhood, and we enjoyed our stay so much.

I loved everything!

Logement typique dans un quartier paisible et plutôt huppé. Appartement vaste, haut de plafond, sentiment d'espace, lumineux. Petite cuisine mais très bien équipée. Immeuble très calme. Écureuils sous les fenêtres: ça on adore!

La literie a besoin d'être rénovée, elle est très inconfortable. La chasse d'eau des toilettes ne fonctionne pas normalement ce qui n'émeut pas les propriétaires à qui nous l'avions signalé, il y a en effet un "truc" pour qu'elle fonctionne mais vu le prix du logement c'est dérangeant... En synthèse, on note un certain manque d'entretien de fond (il manque un spot dans la salle de bain, le rideau de la chambre est abîmé...) ce genre de détails qui nuisent au confort et d'autant plus à ce prix.

Great location between Glasgow centre and the University and museums. A lovely building in a quiet crescent with little passing traffic. Secure parking at the rear.

Basically everything was fine. There were some details that could have been better like more matching mugs and a full set of cutlery. But it was warm and cozy, even in winter, and very comfortable overall for our stay over several week. Would recommend.
