Pousada da Serra da Estrela - Historic Hotel

We felt very welcome at the hotel, which included our dog. The sunrise over the valley below was spectacular. We loved all of what the hotel offered; room, meals, garden, view and service. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at.

Superbe vue. Architecture exceptionnelle. Très bon restaurant.

Mooie locatie boven op de berg, ruime kamers, bediening uiterst vriendelijk. Vanwege tijd van het jaar bediening bij zwembad niet aanwezig.

Bom hotel para famílias que valorizam natureza ou para quem procura um fim de semana de descanso. Com quartos espaçosos, várias áreas comuns e piscina interior e exterior, facilmente se encontra uma zona para relaxar e aproveitar a vista da montanha sobre o vale. Todo o conforto, bem perto da Torre, para quem aprecia caminhadas e explorar a Serra.

La présence massive de familles à totalement ruiné notre séjour, les piscines était envahis et avec les cris on ne pouvait même pas relaxer sur les transats. De plus le restaurant était buffet à volonté, ça me rappelait de mauvais souvenir de tout compris à Cuba mais à pris d'or.

Bel hôtel, bon accueil mais je ne m'attendais pas à ce que ce soit aussi familiale..... piscine intérieur hyper bruyante car aussi bien les enfants que les parents, ne respectent pas la tranquillité des autres. Un bel espace jeux est prévu avec billard, table de ping pong mais là encore : cest a celui qui crira le plus fort.... sinon qualité du restaurant correct et avec du choix et petit-déjeuner très bien. Conclusion : si vous avez des enfants, c'est l'hôtel parfait, mais si vous voulez un peu de calme : c'est mort!

The layout of of the hotel is wonderful as every room has a great view down the hillside across the vast plain below. It has a nice old fashioned feel being built in the 1920s and has a touch of the Agatha Christie about it. However the whole hotel has been restored with modern facilities and decor (perhaps the interior decor is a little too modern and plain and doesn’t exploit the period design of the property). Our room was wonderful, large bedroom with balcony, separate dressing room and large well appointed bathroom and for around 220 Euros for 2 nights, that was excellent value (Saturday and Sunday nights in mid August B&B). For those who wanted to use the Spa and treatments I guess it was even more special. The niggles were: - A kettle and tea making facilities were provided in the room for the first night (perfect for Brits), but a charge of 5 Euros for another tea bag and synthetic milk sachet for each subsequent night was petty and absurd. - The restaurant was nice and the food quite good (very good for breakfast) but we were only offered a buffet at 30 Euros per person. Expensive for the quality of food provided (nice but nothing special).

I was travelling with my girlfriend and the hotel was perfect to this kind of holiday. Staff at the reception was very frendly and helpful. A view from the hotel room was a amazing. An atmosphere between the customers wasn't that great - maybe the hotel attracts certain types of people? The hotel was much more special than we though before.
