Hotel Delfina

If you have a car because you cannot do without it (like you have small children and you want to go around Tuscany) you want to stay in Signa and get daily to Florence via train. There is a train at about every hour. Staying at Signa is affordable and the Delfina is an excellent choice, the staff will take care of you.

We arrived by car. Car park just outside hotel. We spent 5 nights and found the hotel clean and practical situated for Florence visits (train 15 minutes plus a good walk to the station). Reasonable train tickets. The hotel staff were kind and helpfull. The room had balcony, fridge, TV and was comfortable. The reception reocmmended us a visit toi Altimino, where owner has an exclusive restaurant "Da Delfina" located in a beautifull Toscany landscape. As it was sunday we attended the Mass in the beautifull church. We can highly recommend this hotel.

This is a good choice if you are arriving by car and are staying few days. I left car at the hotel and took train to Florence each day. Train station is about 10 minute walk away and train ride takes about 15 minutes to main Florence station. Internet is free (ask at the reception for password), breakfast is not bad but nothing special. Not all staff speaks English but even those that don't speak enough for basic things. I travelled alone and had to reserve 2 bed room but they gave me 1 bed room for lower price. Rooms are pretty basic, bed, small table, fridge, TV but have enough electric outlets so you can charge several things (camera, cell phone, computer....) at once. But since I didn't use room much it was enough. Rooms are non-smoking but if you smoke you can smoke on balcony.

We spent 3 nights here , as a base to travel to Florence from . It is very handy for the station , and the train to Florence takes about 20 minutes . The rooms were very clean and well decorated . Bed comfortable , sheets very clean and fresh , bathroom clean and spacious . Staff polite but the woman who checked us in told us no information , just gave us the key . Breakfast was lacking , compared to what we had read about on Tripadvisor . Stale bread , cake , croissants , and a cup of tea . Adequate but nothing special , although for the price we didn`t expect alot . They do say that they have a bar , but it really is just a few cans behind the breakfast bar . Luckily we explored Signa and it is quite a nice little town with a pretty old area , town walls and castle remains . We even got a wonderful tour of the church by a lovely padre , which was quite magical . We also ate 2 nights at a fantastic restaurant , Il Castille - just into the old area - recommended !

If you want to avoid traffic & parking in Florence. 20 minutes by train to Florence, staff is very helpful and friendly. English speaking. Ask for and visit from there (if you travel by car) the restaurant Da Delfina in Artimino, one of the true Tuscan restaurants in a beautiful location.
