"A little bit of Italy in a quaint town close to Brescia and Verona"

8.0

This was just a 2 night stay and chose the hotel and town, based on good feedback on T/A. We were not let down. Not to get too carried away, it is just a 3 star property and if you want 5 star luxury, head to Verona. If you want a clean, well run, great people family run little hotel for a few nights, then this would be a great choice around the area. Rooms are comfortable not luxurious, but perfectly good for a short stay. We dined in a local restaurant about 200m from the hotel - Ristorante Stella D'Italia. Great food, lovely (red) wine and good value for money. A cold time of the year to visit, but this was for a rugby match about 15 mins drive away. Foggy and just above freezing point, but still ok and dry enough to walk about in the town. This would be a perfect setting for a late Spring or Autumn stay, to enjoy the local area and its scenery.

"Authentic Italian Hotel in little village"

10.0

Very warm welcome and personal service. Nice and clean rooms with marble bath room at a very reasonable price. Typical Italian breakfast with Cappuccino and Brioche, all served by the owner herself. In Walking distance there is a very nice Italian restaurant, a good Pizza take away and a Restaurant-Pizzeria. You also find some small shops and 2 Pasticerias. The hotel is nicely located to explore Brescia, Cremona and the likes. We are coming here every year because of water-skiing at Jolly Ski in San Gervasio Parco Le Vele.

"A wonderful experience close to Cremona"

10.0

We were looking for a hotel that would be convenient to Cremona, but not in the city. We decided to stay at Hotel Gambara. It was a terrific decision. Gambara is approximately 30 minutes northeast of Cremona. Mariuccia, the proprietor of the hotel, is an elegant, funny, and welcoming host. Even if the hotel itself had not been a pleasure, the stay would have been worth it just to meet her. I suppose one could say that the hotel is a little past its prime, but that would miss the point. This is an authentic experience, in a convenient jumping-off point to a city well worth visiting – Cremona (which has a fantastic new violin museum). The hotel, which is very comfortable, also has easy access to a wonderful restaurant just down the road called the Stella. The food was excellent and the staff could not have been nicer. We were very glad that we stopped in this wonderful little hotel.

"A wonderful small hotel near Brescia"

10.0

We had been on a long tour of a Italy in a classic sports car bound for the Mille Miglia road race that starts from Brescia. We were fortunate to stop for an ice cream in Ostiano where the proprietress of the cafe, Lara, recommended the Hotel Gambara and was kind enough to ring ahead and book two rooms for us. We were concerned that Lara's recommendation would not perhaps live up to expectations. However, the hotel turned out to be, as another reviewer has put it, an *absolute gem* and the perfect stop over for two tired and dusty drivers. Lovely rooms, a proprietress who speaks excellent English and who has a charming manner and sense of humour, and a secure place to park. The town is quiet and lovely and to my mind, anyone who needs to stay within 50kms of Gambara could not do better than to stay in this hotel. I cannot recommend it too highly - simply excellent.

"Loved it!!"

10.0

I was visiting this region on business, and like these sorts of trips the hotel had been booked for me.....didnt know when I was staying in advance....just collected at Bergamo airport and taken straight to the hotel. First impressions was that it was unassuming like so many building in the area. Everything was quiet, laid back and so natural. On entering the hotel I was unsure what to expect.....nice reception area, slight confusion on rooms, but the lady at the desk was gentile and very matter of fact..instantly felt at ease and welcomed. Rooms good size, double bed, good clean rooms and very quiet. Unless I had been booked in here, and if not been on business would never have known that the place existed. It isnt high end........but such a lovely atmosphere that couldnt help but fall in love with the place......not everyones cup of tea...but it was mine!!!!

"“Wonderful out of the way experience in the Cremona Area”"

10.0

This is an unexpected gem of a hotel. It is small (14 rooms) and located in a village in the heart of the agricultural district in Lomabardia. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well-appointed and clearly exceed expectations for a three star and are better than most four stars. The major attribute of this hotel is the wonderful family that manage this property. A delightful woman in her eighties and her equally delightful niece who are the true stars of the place. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely a joy to meet.
