Très bon séjour. Un directeur d'établissement à l'écoute et toujours disponible pour conseiller ses clients. Bruit conséquent aux heures de pointes et quelques prostituées aux bas de l'immeuble durant la nuit.

A really nice hotel for the price. Our first room was in the annexe (Alegria) and had street noise, but the manager was happy to move us to the main hotel (Sao Paulo). Our new room opened onto a lovely balcony (shared with two other rooms, but that was OK). The shower room with wc was tiny (so the washbasin was in the bedroom itself), but it was all fine - clean, fresh towels every day, cheerful service, great breakfast (help yourself to ham, cheese, boiled egg, lovely bread rolls and croissants, a toaster, honey, jam and marmalade, tea, coffee, juice, various cereals, yoghurt and various fruits. And in our bedroom, there was a kettle, cups, teacloths, full size fridge and hairdryer. We also used the free computer in the reception area. On our last day, the manager arranged things specially so that we could keep our room until the afternoon so that we could rest before our evening flight. The manager is also easy to deal with by email as he speaks several languages.

This was my second stay at this location; the price is unbelievable! Lovely little kitchen, fab bathroom and comfy beds, cleaned every day. 2 minutes from the centre of town, this is perfect for anyone who fancies staying amongst actual Madeirans in the old town rather than the newer, fancier hotels. Wonderful experience!

Excellent value for money. If you need a clean, central place just to sleep, no fancy pools, etc., this is perfect.

My wife and I stayed for 20 days over the Christmas/New Years period. Great location, clean and very friendly staff. They will provide advice on which sights to see, arrange car rentals, etc. It is a 5 minute walk to a shopping centre with a large super market. Food prices are good, and with the apartment's stove, microwave, fridge and dishes; you can eat well on a modest budget. Complementary wireless internet is provided in all rooms -- fast and reliable. Breakfast is included, and it was good with various breads, cheese, cereal, fruit, coffee and tea, etc. If you rent a car (we did) inexpensive parking is provided across the street. Madeira is not small, so if you are comfortable driving a standard shift, as all rentals are here, that is the best way to get around. If not, one of the main bus terminals is 5 minutes away and will take you to most of the major attractions on the island. You can pay more and stay at a luxury hotel, but if you want the flexibility of doing most of your own cooking and enjoying the central part of traditional Funchal, you will be hard pressed to beat this place. We really enjoyed our stay at Apartamentos Turisticos Sao Paulo e Alegria, and we highly recommend it to others.

Chambre côté rue un peu bruyante, et aux lampadaires de rue, pour dormir fenêtres ouvertes. Le sol déteignait sur la serpillière en noir ce qui me fait dire que ce n'était pas trop propre et nous avons eu un problème d'odeurs dans la salle de bain. Par contre, kitchenette et balcon forts sympas. Les petits déj étaient aussi très moyens : buffet, mais pas trop achalandé et sans variété sur 8 jours. Sinon, accueil très très sympa et gérants très serviables. Caractéristique constante à Madère d'ailleurs ! Ils ont tout fait pour nous arranger, même nous donner le choix de la chambre et nous déménager les lits. Penser à préciser lit double ou deux simples: à 2, ce n'est pas d'office un lit double !

Es sind reine Appartmenthotels, sehr zentral gelegen. Der Besitzer spricht deutsch. Die Waschräume sind sehr eng. Duschen 60/60 mit 2tlg. Schiebetür, nichts für Leute, die mehr als 37 cm brauchen um sich durchzuquetschen. Das Sao Paulo hat Charme, 2 Dachterrassen, keine Balkone und Klimaanlagen. Das Alegria hat Balkone zur Straße und zu einem Lichtschacht. Die Rezeption, sowie Frühstücksraum (ausgebauter Kellerraum) befindet sich im Sao Paulo.
