Hotel Don Diego

The staff was nice and the pool area was beautiful, but the rooms are very old and they use an overwhelming amount of cleaner in the rooms so you feel like you are being fumigated. The beds are like rocks. The rooms need to be renovated. The breakfast was good.

Room was a bit tired and quite dark with lights needing to be on most of the day. Bed was uncomfortable. No where to sit in the room other than one upright chair. The room was 6 minutes walk away from the centre over semi-rough terrain and tiles, and up and down steep gradients. (It was particularly slippery when wet and a big disadvantage when you wanted to go to dining areas, lounge, pool and beach.) Roadway is particularly bumpy which proved to be quite noisy when traffic is passing outside the room. Sunbeds were most uncomfortable and their position in relation to the parasols meant that it was difficult to get the right amount of sun or shade when you needed it. Swimming pool is a good size and is not heated. The water is very salty and you really need goggles to see where you are going otherwise your eyes begin to sting. The main beach is only 100m long and is used by non-hotel day trippers. The private beach is only a short length at one end of this beach. Overall there is nowhere to walk to (no promenade) although there are some nicely laid-out gardens and paths to a jetty/harbour area. The hotel does offer a transfer service to the nearest town at 20euros/room but in reality it is not really worth visiting and the port is still around 1km walk away from the drop off point. The evening dining menu was a bit limited and you were not advised that the fourth course (sweet) menu is self service. (Easily solved if the menu stated that the dessert menu is self service - it would also be good if hotel told you whether house wines are included or not on the menu.) In addition, there are very few (if any on particular days) gluten-free and free-from options on the menu. Biggest problem is that we had mosquitos in our room (which the hotel provided a vape machine) and they are prevalent at the breakfast / evening bar area where we were unfortunately bitten several times. You need to apply mosquito spray on your hands, legs etc most of the time.

Lack of vegetarian and vegan options at dinner and breakfast (though pleased to see soya yogurt available at breakfast 2/3 days). Private beach wasn't as nice as made out, lots of seaweed, the worst beach of the many we visited during our time on the island.

Das war wirklich ein toller Aufenthalt. Ein kleines, sehr feines Hotel mit tollem Essen. Wir wären gerne länger geblieben. Wirklich empfehlenswert!

Fabulous location, and amenities. The private beach is spectacular. The hotel is dated but unique and charming. Our only issue was that a friend who was staying nearbyvisited us and the hotel staff refused to serve him coffee and was rude to him and us.

It was perfect, 100/10!! They made our travel truly memorable 😍 Really appreciate awesome service and kindness from hotel staff! And the room interior and sea view is gorgeoussss Also, their meals are really yummy! Their patisserie is🤤🤤 I highly recommend booking with meal included. Really great hotel!!!

The hotel is superb. Breakfast and dinner were both outstanding. All the staff were very friendly and exceptionally professional. Food is excellent and made with a true passion... lots of variety with the evening meal choices. The views out to sea are wonderful. There were always plenty of sun chairs to choose from, even though the hotel was fully booked. Lovely saltwater swimming pool and private beach too! We also rented a boat directly from the hotel.

Nothing to fault! Although Aperol Spritz was a bit on the pricey side!

We stayed here for 3 nights. Perfect reset after a month of travelling. Recharged and ready to move on. Very relaxing and indulgent.
