Schernthaner

This hotel is a real traditional Austrian place located in the pretty town of St Gilgen right on the lake. Just a short walk to the cable car, and in the other direction, to the lake. Good breakfast, great view from our balcony and very friendly manager who gave us some good suggestions for restaurants.

We spent Easter weekend in Austria with a group of friends as it was also my 30th birthday. We decided to stay a night in St Gilgen and it was our favourite spot overall! The town was gorgeous, and the hotel was superb. The host was incredibly friendly and made us all feel very at home. She even gave me a small gift on the morning of my birthday which was very much appreciated. The hotel was very comfortable and the breakfast had a bit of everything for all of us. Overall a wonderful stay and the perfect place to spend my birthday.

Close eniough to Saltzburg to include in itinery. Breakfast ample but lacking somewhat in quality - normal cold cuts, hard boiled eggs, cereal and juice. Owner VERY friendly and speaks good english. Location in town VERY good. Suggest eating dinner at the Post Hotel - only a small walk down the hill from the Schernthaner, "excellent food". Has private parking free of charge and free internet service.

Fantastic! Eveerything was great and the owners were extremely friendly and accomodating.

Very nice people. Really tried hard. It "hurts" me to say this but I can NOT recommend this place cause it is simply way too expensive for what you get there.
