The property was perfect in every way. The eating areas were absolutely beautiful, and the food was exceptional! Watching the squirrels and birds out the windows as we had breakfast was a delight. Our window looked out onto the little church which delighted us with its bells and view. The odd horse clip clopping past and the mob of sheep passing by gave it a beautiful, rural feel. Comfy bed, great water pressure and lovely staff. Loved every moment!

It was a glorious setting, beautiful gardens. Lovely little snug areas to sit inside . The breakfast was delicious and great choices. We had our meal on the evening here and that was delicious. After our 4 hour walk it was just perfect

The hotel was lovely, staff were very friendly and helpful The food was amazing.

We wouldnt say didn't like it but felt it was more for people that loved walking and if there were more pubs near by for more to do later on.

"A lovely, friendly hotel in a peaceful location."

The hotel is comfortable and feels warm and welcoming. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The bar and restaurant serve good, tasty food. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice. The location is wonderful - a beautiful rural area where the only sound is birdsong and the air is clear. Very good for stargazing. The valley walk to the waterfall and back via Beck Hole is lovely. Easy to drive to Whitby and other places. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs a steam train to Pickering (about 1 hour) and is well worth a ride.
