Black Rock Oceanfront Resort

The location and views are beautiful. A short walk to the small town and a short walk to the wild Pacific trail. We stayed in one of the suites, a short walk to the main building and it was lovely and very clean. We were kindly allowed to check in early as our room was ready. Reception and bar staff were lovely and friendly.

We paid approx 1800 dollars for a 3 night stay without breakfast and did not feel like it was worth this. You have to pay for water in the room + use of umbrellas which we found ridiculous considering we have stayed in boutique hotels that offer these for free. We had lunch in the restaurant and the service was shocking. We were left waiting to be seated while the waitor was standing around and there were only approx 4 tables in the whole restaurant. The staff were so slow that we had to ask them if we could place an order after waiting several minutes (it was not busy). Our glasses were empty for so long that we went and got a water jug ourselves. It did not feel like luxury or worth the money we spent. The staff were really friendly but need better training. Food was ok. The pool is absolutely tiny for the size of the resort. You have to walk through the small gym to access this. We had booked the hotel as we thought it would be a little bit of luxury for the end of our trip and it felt the opposite. We had mentioned that we on our honeymoon and no acknowledgement of this by the hotel was made. We voiced this feedback when checking out so hopefully some improvements might be made, however it's obvious from several other reviews over the past few months that many of the issues mentioned are ongoing. We would not recommend staying to friends or book again.

Everything was outstanding. The views from everywhere in the resort were breathtaking. And our massages at the Drift spa were so relaxing. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Shower water was only lukewarm every day.

Great property! Great large suite. Love the bathroom and the balcony. Very peaceful. Loved the views from the room, the restaurant/bar, hot tub and pool. Really liked being able to walk right to the trail. Spa was also very nice.
