SALA Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort

Excellent R&R stay at Sala. We booked multiple family villas and from start to finish we enjoyed our time there. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition, the staff are always happy to help, there’s a great selection of activities for children and the beach is beautiful. Would highly recommended the mango pancakes at breakfast. Some advice to the hotel: 1. For a hotel that encourages sustainability, improvements to the villa doors (front & back) need to be made. They do not fully shut resulting in a lot of wasted electricity due to doors constantly leaking the air conditioning. 2. We had dinner at the main restaurant and whilst the food was great (would highly recommend the half chicken), it was noted it did take some time to arrive. This isn’t necessarily a problem as the food was fresh & of a high quality, however families, especially those with kids, should be aware of this and plan to arrive a little earlier. Other than the minor points above there’s really not much to like about Sala and would visit again. Special thanks to Tong, Tiger, Laila, Cee & Arna.

Just returned from a two week holiday in Thailand which included 7 Nights stay at the SALA Phuket Mai Khoa Resort. We had the most wonderful and relaxing time at this hotel. It is a quiet and relaxing hotel with two beautiful pools that overlook a sandy beach. The sea water is very warm and lovely to swim in. The hotel rooms are immaculately clean and very relaxing/comfortable. All the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Morning Breakfast's in the restaurant overlooking the beach and sea made every morning special. It was also enjoyable to eat in the restaurant in the evening and enjoy the marvellous sun sets! Without doubt one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Thanks again to all the staff that helped us have a great stay in Phuket!

This hotel is next level , from the minute you check in and select the kind of pillow you like you get the feeling of luxury , we got an upgrade to a villa with its own pool and outside bathroom …. Wow , amazing , the staff were so friendly and attentive, the manager gave me her card so I could contact her if I had any issues , service was incredible, food was again next level , best breakfasts ever , lovely fresh juices in the morning, the hotel was super clean , lovely pool and super comfy sun loungers , beach was 30 second walk and lovely and quiet , this hotel made you feel relaxed and looked after , a very positive pleasant experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone

Rooms , staff , locations , restaurant = everything is something more / next level ………………………………….. we have great time. Beach Mai Khao is beautiful, sunsets :)) Expecally shower , bath and bathroom outside of the room we liked a lot…………………..

4th time at Sala, I have travelled the world and this is still the only hotel I have been back to for a holiday more than twice! The balance between quality privacy and relaxation is perfect.

Our second stay at the Sala and after a few minor teething problems with the booking arrangements, we enjoyed another fantastic stay. It really is a beautiful hotel, well managed and with the very best facilities. A special mention again to everyone on Chef Tony's team, especially for the spectacular breakfasts, but also for Bee, constantly making the restaurant and bar service stand out, Top for his Thai boxing and yoga and Pim for being the best housekeeper. We'll be back ...

We are a youngish well traveled retired coupleWe had a pool Villa which was very comfortable and private. Service is ok. That is largely because we don't speak Thai. Food was good. Location is a long way from everywhere which could be excellent for Honeymoon couple although quite a few children. Beach is amazing. Gym is good

With the exception of the executive chef all the staff were friendly and helpful and worked hard to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. The room we were in had a private pool, which was not overlooked at all, so costumes were optional. The beach was pristine but dropped away steeply so at certain times of the tide the undercurrent was very strong making getting out difficult. However with deep water so close to the shore we saw fish jumping as they were chased by feeding Tuna, and also saw a Tuna jumping in pursuit. Lots of other wild life to spot, several birds including hummingbirds. The odd lizard keeping the insect population down. The hotel works hard at keeping the mosquitoes away, supplying guests with body spray, and each room has devices to kill and or deter their presence. They also treat the whole area three times a week. However the area is a nature reserve and there are lakes close by so the problem will always remain. The ground staff keep everything beautiful, placing Orchids in coconut husks and attaching them to the trees allowing them to attach themselves to the tree and grow naturally up it. A free shuttle bus to the local shopping area runs every half hour.where there is a Starbucks, a Burger King and several nice restaurants. So what is my beef with the executive chef? The desert menu is brought after you have finished eating your main course, on it there is a Chocolate Lava Cake. That is the only Chocolate option apart from ice cream. When you order it you are informed that it takes 25 minutes to arrive, which was enough to put most diners off as it did us on the first day. The second day I decided to order it anyway and wait the 25 minutes. However 45 minutes after ordering the chef sent a waiter to inform us that it was not going to be possible to serve and offer a slice of cake instead. The Chef obviously has no intention of serving the dish and has not got the back bone to apologise in person. Why is it on a menu that is delivered after the main course if it takes so long to prepare? The rest of the food is excellent so the catering staff are all working well, they just have an idiot in charge of them.

This resort exceeded our expectations, mainly due to the great members of the team and its location. The Garden Pool Villa was just perfect, privacy to swim when and as you like, immaculately clean, thanks the the amazing “Win” who was just a delight to see every day. We stayed on a Bed and Breakfast basis, but used the on site restaurant most days. The only issue we had, and I discussed this with “Tiger and Bee” was that when they were not present in the restaurant the level of service deteriorated quite badly. It wasn’t that the team were rude , but they were completely uncoordinated, with wine not being delivered until after the food had arrived, items being missed off the bill and “Happy Hour” discounts not bring applied, amongst other things. It was difficult to complain because they always apologised profusely, and even compensated us on a couple of evenings. Please ensure that a Maitre d” of the calibre of “Tiger” is in the Bar/Restaurant during evening meal times to coordinate the team. Finally, we had the most amazing time at an amazing resort with an amazing team, so a huge Thank you from us both, and we would not hesitate to recommend you to others.

My wife and I were fortunate to stay here for the last week of January and first of February, in a one-bed-pool-villa near the front. Wonderful (near-empty) beach and swimming, perfect weather, loads of local restaurants and mini-marts, and a fabulous hotel. We were incredibly well cared for and the whole team (spa, pool, restaurants, bar, reception, house-keeping) were not just impeccably kind but also efficient, well-trained and happy. Wide mix of clientle, few children and very laid-back. Special shout-out to Tony, the Exec Chef, who made sure every day we had everything we needed and even popped in a few special treats. Personally, I preferred this to the Sarojin...
