Very nice hotel….perfect for a quick stopover

I would pass on this hotel. We knew it wouldn't be fancy, but the ratings/reviews gave us the impression of an economical option that was clean and had the basics. Unfortunately, it really just wasn't clean and the shower drain was backed up (so gross). I usually wipe off the toilet seat at any hotel, and usually I can't visibly see anything when I wipe it off. But there was visible...stuff (let's just say) when I wiped the seat and also counter. There was also visible lint, dirt, etc. on the bathroom floor and around the whole room. I discovered the backed up shower drain the hard way after getting in the shower and soaping up my hair already. The water started pooling up after about a minute. If housekeeping even tried to do a quick clean/rinse of the shower, they would have noticed the slow drain, so this was definitely not a new issue (though the front desk acted surprised, eyeroll). I had noticed that the tub area didn't look very clean, and now I know why. The dishwasher was also broken with a sign on it (saying "broken") which had clearly been there a while. We only stayed one night so that wasn't a huge deal, but they didn't provide any alternative way of cleaning the dishes we used. They gave us a sponge and dish soap when we went down and asked. But with a broken dishwasher (that has been broken a while), they should provide these supplies proactively in this room. The linens and towels did seem clean, as they should be. Not a good stay.
