"Awesome historical relaxing b and b to stay and walk to see the historical section of Augusta"

10.0

We stayed for three nights and the two full days gave us almost all the time we needed to see the highlights of the historical section of Augusta, which is fascinating. We saw the canal section although the boats were not running, the King Mill which is in the process of being renovated by at least two businesses - it looks like they are going to get businesses to take over parts of it and pay for the renovation with rent or something. Good plan, it looks like it is working! There are two breweries within walking distance and we walked to one of them. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance and we went to a different one each day. The Augusta historical museum is a wonderfully well done museum with a wide variety of artifacts to look at. The riverwalk is a short walk to get to and then you have a 1.5 mile walk along the Savannah river which is really nice - they maintain it well. We also found out that every Sunday night from May to Labor day they have free live jazz music in the square located in the downtown area. It was packed but you could hear the music blocks away - get a seat outside at one of the restaurants and listen to the jazz and avoid the crowds! (Have to wait to see if Augusta does this next summer - what an awesome idea! )

We really enjoyed our first stay at the Queen Anne. Our host Valerie met us when we arrived and was very friendly and helpful. The house was constructed in 1895 and is located on a quiet street in downtown Augusta. Our room was very nice and comfortable with a four poster bed. It was an easy walk to downtown amenities and close to the Riverwalk. Breakfast was in a very nice enclosed sun porch. We will definitely stay at the Queen Anne again when we are in Augusta.

Nice quant B&B. Heating and air could be better. Room would not get below 80 during the day. All and all room was probably as should be expected from a historic age home.

"NOT recommended for single female travelers"

4.0

I'm sorry to post this, because Val seems (by text and phone) a super sincere and well meaning person; after rereading the listing, however, I feel travelers should be warned, particularly unaccompanied female(s), who like me could find this experience creepy and disturbing. I arrived just before 5pm, as I told Val I would, but the place was absolutely empty - I had to unlock the door using code (the listing says front desk is staffed until 10pm: not so.) Also the street was deserted except for one old car that appeared abandoned, and many of the adjoining buildings were weedy, boarded up, etc. Felt VERY uncomfortable out there alone unloading luggage and working the padlock on the front door. Once inside the large dark mansion, where all the lights were off - I had to find switches... there was no one to tell me which of the many rooms was supposed to be mine - after wandering around cautiously for awhile I had to text and call Val several times before reaching her. She also had not stocked the fridges with the ice, nor the cream for coffee, she had promised - she seemed distracted and overworked. There was no place nearby to get these items and I didn't want to start driving around that area with night falling - and then come back alone to this house after dark. For the same reason I didn't feel comfortable leaving to find a restaurant for dinner so I ended up locking myself in my room and eating a bag of nuts. The house was quiet all night - I believe I was all alone.

Room is spacious and amenities are wonderful for the price! Bath jets were a little dirty is really the only thing that comes to mind. Such courteous people honestly (thanks for the cereal/coffee/breads you personally stored in the fridge for us). All in all I hope to reserve the space again if and when I come back down to Georgia!

"Absolutely fantastic romantic getaway!!!"

10.0

This by far is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Definitely the nicest bed-and-breakfast ever. Don’t listen to any negative reviews as this spacious clean wonderful charming very well-maintained. as far as slow drains in the shower doesn’t take a rocket scientist to look down at your feet and pull the anti-slip mat away from the drain. adorned with every amenity possible from air conditioning , crisp clean sheets ,comfortable beds, full cable TV and the owner Val that waited on us us hand and foot. Knowing this was our wedding Anniversary Val asked what Our favorite desserts are, any food restrictions and a bottle of Champagne was offered. By the way Val the special ordered cheesecake and ice cream was wonderful! Unbelievable that anyone could say anything negative about the Queen Ann inn. Similar BNB’s in Savannah are 900.00 per night.
