Savannah House Wine Country Inn & Cottages

What a wonderful stay right on Rte 14. The room was adorable with quaint touches and a beautiful view. I highly recommend this for a great stay!

Beware! Definitely not a hotel or motel. We went to this property because we thought it looked charming. We discovered that it is more like a B&B with very low conditions. There are no people on premises and no reception counter. They do not answer the phone and write you through WhatsApp with code to the door (only after we wrote that they should call urgently were we able to get them on the phone). In the room the air conditioning is mobile (rather than in the walls) so the pipes for the air conditioning are in the room and very noisy (of course this is not seen in the pictures). The rooms were stuffy, so they put the air conditioning on with perfume. Even the shampoo given is a small, tiny mini bottle (also not seen in pictures). It is like a B&B with almost no amenities. We immediately asked to leave. The owner's response was that we should have done our research. Even though we made the reservation shortly before arriving he was not willing to reach a compromise with us and did not even answer Booking's calls to him (Booking asked us to WhatsApp him and let him know they tried to call him but he did not answer). From the short exchange we had with the owner, I can anticipate that they will say "it is our fault" – that was his reaction when we asked to leave, as he first accused us of having a different place to go to (which we did not) and then accused us for not doing our research. It was a real shame, and the owner was not willing to give any of our pre-paid booking back (we paid in advance for 4 nights for two rooms). Beware.

The room was much smaller than we thought. The bed looked more like a double than a queen, and it was very soft, and not very comfortable.We didn’t really get much sleep at all. The air conditioner was a stand alone conditioner that was extremely loud. The room smelled musty. The outside area was pretty, and since we didn’t really sleep, we were able to watch the sun come up at about 5 o’clock in the morning and that was pretty. We were unable to stay all three nights. We only stayed one and then we had to find another place to stay. We did notify the person who was taking care of it and of course we didn’t get any kind of refund. He said it was because we didn’t let them know anything was wrong and we left without telling them. I didn’t feel as though I wanted to wake them up in the middle of the night and I knew that there was nothing that they could do about a tiny room, an uncomfortable bed, loud airconditioner, or the smell in the room. We were lucky enough to be able to find another place to stay. All in all it was a rough night and a very expensive trip.

The Savannah House was outstanding! The place is very updated, clean, and very well run. The place is decorated like a more expensive lodging!!! The guy who runs it is very friendly, accommodating, and cares about making you comfortable and happy. Would absolutely stay there again!!!

Second time staying at Savannah House. It's quiet and comfortable.
