Hotel Esplanade

Had a great stay at this unique hotel in Pescara

No coffee pot or hot water kettle, and no microwave. I was led to believe that the property was on the beach. I had a beach view, but it wasn't on the beach. There were two streets that separated me from the beach. They advertised a parking garage, but it was full, so I had to pay 2 Euros an hour to park on the street. I later moved the car to a free spot a couple blocks away. The neighborhood dumpsters were right under my window, and everyone kept dumping their bottles at all hours of the night. But it building was relatively clean, and the breakfast was decent. It even had eggs and bacon for the Americans.

The hotel has a fantastic view on the beach and the staff is very friendly but that´s it ! The room is horrible and old. Bed matress is bad. The bathroom is terrible. The Wifi does not work properly and ... the windows are not double glazing. It is impossible to sleep during the night you can hear everything down from the streets. To avoid !

Very nice stay

The property is in a great location, but very run down and dated. There is a lost opportunity as there is only breakfast offered as their restaurant is closed (same area as breakfast was served). There is no bar on the property. One of my traveling companions had a terrible experience with the cleanliness of his room, as well. My shower was leaking and flooded the bathroom during my stay.

In my opinion this hotel deserves more than its current average 3 star review on TripAdvisor. I can’t quite give it a 5 but it should not be discounted if you are seeking a place to stay in Pescara. I can’t comment on price as we were staying as part of a small group tour. It is a character building very close to the beach. The lifts work effectively and we found our room quiet. We did not enjoy a ‘view’ but also we didn’t have street noise. The shutters are effective once you work out how to use them. The bathroom is in many ways a typical Italian hotel bathroom. A box shower and not enough storage space for 2 people but it does the trick. The rooms were spacious. The breakfast room has a spectacular view but no rooftop bar which was a real pity. The laundry service was also not available when we were there so we walked to a self service laundromat which did mean that we saved money and put clothes were immediately,available. Staff are effective when ordering taxis and luggage storage on checkout was easy.

Great old hotel near the beach. The building has a lovely architecture which is typically Italian. Spacious room with a stone Juliet balcony overlooking the sea. Very central and 15 walk from the railway station. Great welcome from the Reception staff. We originally booked for one night but decided to extend our stay. If big TV screens and modern lines are your thing, this is not the hotel for you. We love the old and elegant atmosphere of the hotel, reminiscent of old times.
