"Una pesadilla"

3.0

Tranquilidad

Hacia un frío horrible y solo había sábanas de verano, a finales de Octubre una colcha en algún armario guardado hubiera estado bien. El desayuno se sirve a partir de las 8 así q si viajas x trabajo descártalo.

"A peaceful, authentic place to slow down and enjoy real Spain"

9.0

The hotel’s location is simply stunning – peaceful and quiet, set in the charming Spanish village of El Berro, surrounded by the Sierra Espuña mountains. The building sits just below a cliff, offering beautiful views from the room and from the pool area. We loved the solarium and sauna – even in October we could enjoy the sun and relax outdoors. The interiors smell fresh and are spotless: crisp linens, perfectly clean towels and bathrooms. Andrés, the owner, was warm and welcoming. The food was excellent, with local wine and olive oil from El Berro. We especially appreciated that the team prepared vegetarian dinners for us in advance – it felt very thoughtful. The whole place feels authentic and private, with a touch of boutique charm but never pretentious. Everything is well kept and tastefully designed, with wood, tiles, and details typical of Spanish architecture.

We spent a week at Bajo el Cejo, and it’s honestly hard to find anything negative. The only thing we would mention is breakfast – it’s based on local products and not a typical buffet style, which is nice but after several days the choice can feel limited. We missed options like eggs or a wider selection of vegetables. That said, everything served was fresh and delicious. Also, the pool isn’t heated, so in October the water can be a bit chilly – not a big issue on sunny days though.

"Very comfortable and tranquil in an elevated location adjacent to a beautiful regional park"

10.0

The hotel is very comfortable, very clean and very well maintained, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff are incredibly helpful and delightful - I felt very welcome and completely at home. The location is very, very tranquil too with many hikes possible into the adjacent regional park (Sierra Espuña) which is extremely beautiful. There are several small terraces at different levels at the rear of the hotel, some particularly small and cozy and well-shaded with overhanging fig trees. I didn't try the restaurant but the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. There is a decent-sized town (Alhama de Murcia) about 15km away which has a good selection of shops and services.

Honestly, nothing. I found the hotel almost by chance - I made my booking based on its convenient location along the route I was taking to Andalucia and the fact that it welcomes dogs (I'm travelling with my faithful lab). So it was something of a surprise to find such a nice hotel in such a splendid location. In fact, I liked the hotel so much I booked another stay on my return home a few days later.
