Clean room, comfortable bed and overall amazing

Housekeeping services were minimal: sloppy bed making, poor litter collection/disposal. Shower curtain was too short; water on floor was unavoidable.

I stayed here recently while in the area for business. The property is located away from the interstate in a partially rural area. There are few places to eat but there is a very good Italian restaurant about 2 miles down the road. I last stayed here a year ago and the facility appears to be complete renovated and was identical to the Hampton on the outskirts of Birmingham I stayed at the previous evening. This room was also clean and in good repair other than the desk lamp was excessively dim. I think this room also had a dummy thermostat on the wall. Why? Pick one or the other. There is a logging operation in the vicinity of the hotel and each time I have stayed on this side of the building I have heard random semi trucks early in the morning. The BIG issue I had this time and the reason for the lower ranking is that the lobby OVERWHELMS you with some kind of “air freshener” which smells like bathroom cologne in a bar. It is so strong that I don’t know how the people who work at the front desk have survived. There is no need to have such strong stuff at the front desk unless you are trying to cover up something. The previous night’s Hampton Inn didn’t have that going on. I don’t like being smogged out with cheap air freshener after I’ve been working all day. Nice enough place but I’m staying somewhere else next time.

Quiet area and friendly staff. Breakfast bar was good. Our bed comfortable.

This was a very nice option only few mins from wolf creek lodge water park.

The overnight receptionist, Kimberly, was awesome. Kudos to her for greeting us at 3 am like we had just driven the 10 hours we had. She made sure the room we were placed in really fit my husband’s disabilities. She was very respectful of our exhaustion. Shanay’s was equally generous, after letting us sleep late, by checking on us to see our accommodations met his needs. The desk people were great at greeting us every time we left and came back. The bed was very comfortable! I would say by sleep number standards it was a 60 to 75. My favorite is 35, but this bed was very comfy and the linens were soft and smelled fresh. Slept great during our 3 night stay. The whole room was clean. Being 76 and having only 1 leg is difficult enough without having a hard time being in a different environment and fearing further injury. The only downside we experienced was the shower seat seemed bolted too high to ground for easy transfer in the shower. Once he transferred, his good leg didn’t reach the ground and we had to stack towels so he had leverage to keep him on the seat. He also said it had a slick surface which seemed precarious so maybe prepare by bringing an alternative for those situations. The manager was really cordial as well. Not too busy to chat! Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

May 2025 Overnight Stay Lobby: Welcoming appearance. No weird smells. Friendly, helpful, and professional front desk person. Appears almost like a new property but front desk gal said major renovations. Everything was clean and operational. Hard floors not carpet in rooms. Bummer. I prefer carpeting. This means noise travels under the room door, and the floors will be cold on your feet in the morning. We were looking forward to gaining an hour only to discover this town operates on Eastern time because the geographical time zone line actually splits the town. So they chose Eastern. Very large bathroom. Very good lighting. Even in the shower. Glass doors for the light to shine through. No quiet close seat on the toilet. Minimal towels unless you ask for extra. Mattress was comfortable. Pillows, eh..not so much. Sofa couch was fairly comfortable to sit on. No “do not disturb “ door hanger available for room 523 (reported). Except for the first floor, the elevator indicators do not depict which floor the elevator is on. So if you’re on the second floor and press the call button, you don’t know whether the elevator is one floor above, one floor below, or on the fifth floor, and it might be faster to go down the stairs. On the top floor, this Hampton had a recreation/game room like area. Have never seen this on an Interstate Hampton. The luggage carts were the smallest I’ve ever seen. Multiple trips required to unload and reload your vehicle. Breakfast was pretty standard fare for a Hampton Inn. Multiple selections and scrambled eggs available today. Kind of off the beaten path, so be sure to eat before arrival.

Staff was very friendly , pool was excellent however the lady that was over breakfast was rude and lazy , she was suppose to bring out more grits but instead she was outside smoking a cigarette.
