Le Napoleon

Room quality inconsistent. My sisters room next door was nice. Mine never warmed up (winter time). No ac so summer might be a problem. Room was large for Europe however so a big plus there.

My stay at the Napoleon was ok but not great. Pros: 1) Excellent location opposite to the Flanders Train Stations, lively neighborhood with many restaurants and cafes open until late. 2) Clean Room 3) Very cheap and unbeaten rate. 4) Restaurant at hotel serves delicious food. Cons: 1) heating system was useless. With temperature outside close to freezing point, the heating system was able to warm the room and increase its temperature to 8 degrees only. 2) not all staff speak English 3) It is impossible to get your room before 14:00 even if it was ready. (No early check in).

We (wife and oneself), stayed here 6-9 Dec 18 after our AirBnB place turned out to be somewhat undesirable. What can I say? The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and this is evident in the corridors where some rather stylish tiles are being installed. Our room was basic. It had an en suite shower room and hanging space for clothing but it would have been nice from have had a kettle. The room was immaculately clean, and I really mean that. The pillows are really comfortable and the duvet was a perfect weight. Heating in the main room was by electric wall-mounted heater and was entirely adequate. The bathroom was single glazed and relied upon a timer-based clockwork switch. The hotel is well placed in Lille and you can walk to every location easily (by this I mean if you can walk into 14km in a day). Lille is really expensive to eat and drink in if you stick to the tourist areas. To give an example: 2 beers in Palais du Biere, next to Napoleon, 18 Euros. Two beers in the cafe 20m behind Napoleon (and next to Nefertiti, an outstanding Egyptian restaurant), 7 Euros! Anyway. Chapeau Hotel Napoleon! Loved it

Convenient location

Great location for train travel.

As a solo traveller I chose it for convenience to stations and price. Room had been renovated and was fine for me. It was a bit hot though as the sun came in the window all day long and no aircon. Very simple and basic. Ate in the bar the first evening, wasn't impressed enough to repeat. Close for walking around Lille. A few undesirables hanging around the station but I could be in the hotel quickly. It was fine for my short stay of 5 nights.

We were able to find a room for £37 for a night, and for that price, this place was really good. Clean and fresh room, although the floor was leaning quite heavily. The roads around the hotel were being worked on at the time we were there, so there was no traffic at all basically. Quite a lot of people on the streets though, so it wasn't super quiet. The location is really good, very close to the train station. If you're looking for food or drinks, it's probably worth it to venture a few blocks further towards the Grand Place though.

Hotel was very central to town centre and old town. Has own bar and restaurant. Parked at 'Effia' car park at side of railway station, very secure and only 10euros overnight. Rooms clean and bright, a very good budget hotel. Would stay again.

Lille is a very busy city, many restaurants etc. OK for short break, interesting market on Sunday in the old Town

Just returned from three days in the French City of Lille and found this gem of a restaurant by chance, first had a late lunch and as it was so good returned the following day for dinner. Meals came complete with appropriate side dishes we tried both the local specialities and the steak dishes both were excellent. The staff spoke very good English and were very helpful the restaurant had a real French atmosphere so if you find yourself in Lille do give it a try. A big 'Well Done' to Le Napoleon.
