We loved Chateau Varenne. It’s a beautiful Oasis of calm and a really special place to stay.

Our bedroom was on the second floor which is a bit of a climb.

Prachtig domein met mooie kamers. Zeer rustig. Zeer goed ontbijt, dat we konden opeten op het terras naast het kasteel. Ook goed zwembad. Verschillende leuke zithoeken.

Niets. We hadden spijt dat we niet langer gebleven waren.

"Beautiful chateau but not a hotel"

Beautiful chateau and immaculately clean, wonderful hosts.

It’s not a four star hotel- somewhere between a b&b and wedding venue. No food available, no help with luggage, no fridge in the room. We were staying as part of a long trip and you become dependent on basic hotel facilities like these- we couldn’t go out to get food so we had a bag of crisps from the minibar. Long slog from the car park with cases across gravel, most places would have help or a trolley. It’s a very lovely place to stay and on a different trip it would have been perfect for us, it’s just not a hotel.
