"Ok but not great. City is fantastic"

4.0

The city is fantastic, what an amazing

The owner was rude. We booked the hotel at 7pm after leaving a terrible hotel in Limoges, it took us two hours to get to this new hotel, we were greeted by a closed reception and had to call for help. The owner arrived after literally two minutes and told me I would be charged an extra 15 euro for being late. The rooms were advertised as having air con, they don’t! The beds are uncomfortable! The rooms are loud with street noise! Lights weren’t working in the rooms! Breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about though. I spoke to the owner about the extra charge in the morning and he angrily disagreed but removed the charge.

"Friendly Central Historical Hotel"

10.0

Full of historical character, this hotel is conveniently tucked away in the centre of Tours near the cathedral. The owner and staff are very helpful, there is secure underground parking a short walk away, and an excellent cafe bar next door. Our room was comfortable and adequate for our needs. A good breakfast was offered for a small supplement. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. (nb - the rooms are accessed by old steep wooden stairs which might be challenging for guests with mobility issues....)

"Historic hotel with caring owner. Good area"

10.0

Old historic hotel with a lot of character. I suspect it looks very similar to 200 years ago, but bathrooms are not so old. It was all fine. Bike storage in a nearby private garage that the hotel owns. 5 eu a day. Owner took me there so it was easy. A left prescription glasses in the room and the owner contacted me and mailed them to me. For that I am so grateful. Caring man. He speaks fluent English. Floor creak a bit but that’s because it’s an original building with character. Obviously narrow old historic buildings don’t have lifts. Area was good. 10 mins walk from station and nice restaurants and cafes nearby. Wasn’t as crazily busy as the old city (a plus) but close enough to easily walk there.

"Tiny historic hotel with kind owner, bike storage nearby."

10.0

Historic hotel where author Balzac once lived is literally creaking with character. Its narrow stairs lead to comfortable small rooms. Like many historic hotels there is no lift, because you can’t retrofit large fits to these historic buildings. That’s the price of not staying in a cookie cutter new character free hotel. I liked that the this little hotel has a kind owner who went to a lot of effort to contact me after I left my spare prescription glasses in the room. He happily mailed them to me. I am so grateful! Lovely man. His English is excellent too. He also walked me to a nearby private garage where he locked my bike up and kept it safe. Charge was 5 euro a day. And he took me again to retrieve it when I left. That was great. Used my time to explore chateaus nearby. Loved Chenonceau. It’s an easy 10 minute walk to the train station. And lots of nice restaurants nearby. The ancient part of the city is not far. But it had lots of people. So I was happy in the neighbourhood where Hotel de theatre was located. Felt safe.

"Boka!!"

10.0

"Exceptional"

10.0

The Hotel suite me excellently. It was simple, quiet, clean and a great location in the old town. The Hotel is only 8 minutes from the main railway station of Gare de Tours. I had a very nice stay of three nights. Tours is the perfect city from which to visit some of the chateaux of the Loire by train. I had three days out from Tours: Chenonceaux Chinon and Amboise.
