Scala Hotel Apartments

The apartments were lovely and are really close to the beach, supermarkets and restaurants. The staff are lovely and the apartments were kept spotlessly clean! (No hair dryer included so remember to take your own). Big thank you to Isabelle and Eleni - who were fabulous.

If you are not spoiled by nature you will be very happy to stay at Scala Apartments. The staff, the owner of the hotel, Elena and another very pleasant young woman (I cannot recall her name) provided excellent and generous hospitality for two professors. The rooms are very pleasant, clean and comfortable. The view of Agia Pelagia from our balcony (closest to the reception lobby) was magnificent. The surrounding area and nearby Heraklion were all magnificent for one's aesthetic, learning and culinary pleasures. One suggestion: while there do not hesitate to rent a local car and see as much as you can! (Not having done so is our only regret during our one week's stay.) But if you prefer, friendly taxi and local bus drivers are also in abundant supply!

Probably one of the best located apts in resort, easy access to beach and restaurants. Large apt and great sized balcony but beds awful!! Very low to ground, approx 2ft from floor and two singles pushed together with big gap between. Very uncomfortable and noisy - woke myself up every night just turning over! Cracked tiles and grubby looking bath in bathroom - definitely not 4 star standard. Would return but only if beds were updated. Air conditioning good. Could definitely do with an overhaul. Isabelle and Eleni at reception were lovely and very helpful, pool tiny but beach on the doorstep. Very much a laidback, Greek seaside resort.NO British or Irish pubs or Chinese restaurant - thank goodnes!!! Ideal for a chilled holiday. 6 Euro for 2 beds and a parasol for the day on the beach which was immaculate and the fish swimming around you in the sea. Could invest in building some toilets - at the moment only chemical loos at either end of beach which were disgusting or using restaurant's loo after buying a drink. Agia Pelagia very hilly away from the beach and very spread out - unfortunately lots of half built buildings where money has run out kind of spoil the look of the resort but would not put me off returning. All the restaurants and cafe's we went to we're excellent and the seafood is amazing - best restaurants were Bravos, Mythos & Zorbas. Heraklion Airport again is a nightmare, as it appears every Greek airport is (Kos airport last year was worse) - dirty (loos revolting in arrivals) disorganised and rude staff.

Large, clean apartments (thank you Vicky) professional staff (hi Eleni and Isabelle), low prices (we stayed there in September) excellent view, especially to the village and part of the sea, 100m from restaurants, beach, super market, small pool, tranquility over the busy beach. be careful about mosquitos in area, there is no other thing to worry about, we recommend it wholeheartedly.

we came here with our children and was a good basic appartment. it was clean and did what is says in the tin. not a large amount of facilities i.e. no microwave and they only had twin rooms. also there was no lift and with a double buggy climbing 15 steos and to climb the hill was difficult! but the staff were amazing! Elaini and Isabelle were brilliant, helpful and nothing was to much trouble!

The hotel and the ladies at the reception specially beautifull eleni and isabella were very helpfull and kind definetely going back there next year hotel is very close to the sea and the shops very highly reccomended. Yammas

The hotel was very clean and the room was really nice, with a kettle and fridge which was super handy. The location was fantastic: step outside and you are at the beach. What really set this place apart was how friendly the staff were. We would certainly come back again!

Staff ridiculously friendly and accommodating, offering us complimentary drinks on arrival. They were more than happy to give advice on the local area. The location was just what we were looking for. The hotel is 3 minutes from the beach going down around 50 steps. It's a small town with around 20/30 bars/restaurants on the beach front all with lovely views. Not much else to do other than eat drink and sunbathe though unless you hire a car or catch a bus. The only SLIGHT downside is the size of the pool. But it did not detract from our overall experience and we did still use it. Rooms had everything we needed and were very clean. Aircon, shower and kitchenette amenities all working how they should. No safe in our room although I think there were in others. We were told not to worry so we didn't and we were right not to. Overall an excellent hotel with excellent staff in an excellent location. If a lazy beach holiday is what you're looking for, then this is for you.

We've stayed in this apart hotel before driving down to the south coast many times, the apartments are perfect, great views a few minutes from the main beach, the small town the restaurants and bars. Very kind helpful girl on the reception desk, an enjoyable stay.

Booked a trip at the last minute to Crete. The people at Scala Hotel were amazing and so helpful. The service was amazing and you couldn't ask for a better hotel location. Would definitely go back and I recommend staying here for anyone traveling to Crete.
