Parador de Hondarribia

A third floor room (hotel has an elevator) with views on to the sea and estuary. The hotel is in the centre of the old town of Hondarribia, opening on to the main plaza. From here it is very easy to walk around the old town and into the new town and the beach and seafront. There is a lovely terrace overlooking the estuary, a perfect place for evening drinks and to enjoy the sunset. Parts of the building have been renovated, parts have been left in a semi ruined state giving the hotel lots of character. Breakfast is offered in delightful interior patio area.

When booking we asked for a double bed but our room had two singles. The hotel provides breakfast and there is a bar but no restaurant; not a problem as there are several bars and restaruants within two minutes walk.

The location and the superior room was worth the extra cost

I know it's old but... they've completed great refurb bathrooms and bed and linen good quality. However, the wonky (technical term not, but you know what I mean!) occasional table and threadbare lounge chair were not up to standard. Hopefully they're at the top of the next replacement list.

Wat een ervaring. Je waant je in de tijd van Karel de vijfde. Kamers, bedden, ontbijt dikke prima!!

Jammer dat er geen mogelijkheid is voor een zwembad of gym.

Bland rooms, soundproofing lacking. For some reason the staff at breakfast looked very grumpy it was almost funny !

The building is wonderful, as is the interior decor. There are good spaces for relaxation indoors and outside. The room we had was roomy and very comfortable. The location was in the heart of old town Hondarribia, and an easy walk to the harbour.

The route to the Parador, by car, is tricky the first time. For a place of this quality, the breakfast was not up to expectations.
