We first visited the hotel when it was brand new in 1994. We met the architect then. He made an excellent job of the place. This is the first time we have returned. It has obviously been refurbished since then, but it is as good as it was when new. The room was spacious with a large balcony overlooking the outdoor pool and the ocean about 15 minutes walk away. It had effective air conditioning. The room and public areas were very clean. The hotel was quiet at night. The reception and pool bar staff were friendly, if you made a bit of an effort. Breakfast was fine, fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order etc. The outdoor pool was warm enough to swim in and a relaxing place to hang out. There were always enough sunbeds when we wanted them. The hotel supplies towels that can be used for the pool or the beach. There are a fair number of choices of places to eat. We liked Latitude for tapas. It is popular, so better to reserve a table. Beach was clean. Lovely sand. Praia da Luz feels like a very safe place. We didn't use the gym, indoor pool or jacuzzi, but they all looked fine

Bottled water was provided on arrival but not on subsequent days. Ants got into the wardrobe, but were sorted after I let the hotel know. The location of the hotel is 15 minutes walk uphill from the seafront. Uber is cheap on the Algarve, and a less ambulant guest told me they used it to get back to the hotel without any difficulty. I didn't like the intrusive music at breakfast time. And the ambient music round the pool is also not needed. I'd prefer peace.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times. I love it and will definitely stay again. t's a small hotel and always feels peaceful and relaxing. The pool and gardens are beautiful and the rooms are comfortable and very clean. It's always a pleasure to return. I love the addition of the spa and outside lounge style seating area that have been created in the last couple of years. The pool bar is good value for day time snacks.

There are a couple of small things that need addressing. Because of the hilltop location it is often very windy, which is lovely when it's hot. However this means that the umbrellas around the pool are liable to take off. Some more fixed shaded areas would be helpful as there were days when it wasn't possible to put an umbrella up. There were not enough spaces to enjoy the pool and seek shade in the heat of the day. It would be really useful to have clothes airers on the balconies. It would also be great if the pool bar could be open a bit later in the evening for cocktails. It closes at around 6pm, in the summer months people are still enjoying the pool until later.
