"Absolutely amazing experience."

Delightful staff, clean room, breath-taking view of San Gimignano, great food and great wine. My only regret is not staying there longer.

"Relaxing Break"

10.0

My mom and I were traveling together around Tuscany and last minute we decided to switch our trip around and stay at an Agriturismo. I would say this place is great except for one thing - we were under the impression all meals were going to be more family style (where you sit at the same table as other guests and get to interact with everyone). Dinner was more of a restaurant feel. Also you really didn't get the feel you were on a farm, but more of an upscale B&B in the country. We stayed for one night, and Daniela was very helpful with answering my emails for directions and questions prior to our arrival. This was a nice relaxing break in the middle of our trip.

"grgreat short getaway"

8.0

Plan ahead if you're not driving. Bus runs about 5 miles away and its a rough, bumpy road. Cabs aren't cheap. That said, the place was beautiful. Can't beat the scenery. A good place to relax and unplug. Rooms are simple and clean.

"Beautiful rural Tuscan experience"

8.0

Driving into Fattoria Voltrona it is impossible not to be awed by the landscape. The setting and the grounds of the farm itself are fantastic. Claudia at the front desk is an absolue pleasure and a fountain of knowledge about the area. The wait-staff in the restaurant don't all have the firmest grip on the English language, but it being in rural Italy, that is understandable! The only real drawback can be the fact that there is very little in the way of noise blocking in the rooms themselves. You can clearly hear people enter and exit the building, loud conversations in the hallway feel like they're happening next to your bed, and the walls between the rooms leave very little to the imgination. This is minor though when compared with the sheer beauty and tranquility of the area. I would efinitely recommend this to anyone looking to explore the San Gimignano and Volterra area. (Volterra having FAR less tourists than San Gimignano.)

Lovely hotel, very nice clean room and surroundings. Pool was looking great , decent size too. We only stayed there one night I wish we could saty longer. The hotel staff very kind and helpful. The room was very dark in the back of the hotel but once you get out of the room the view pays it off!

"Fabulous country location"

10.0

A beautiful premises in the middle of delightful tuscan countryside. The only downside.......no air condition in bedrooms......and it was excessively hot! Great location for visiting surrounding area.....about 3-4 miles from San Giminanano. Great evening meal served on the terrace. Great little swimming pool. Definitely recommended.

"Wonderful, peaceful getaway!"

10.0

Wow! This place was amazing! The staff were extremely nice and made us feel welcome, the scenery was gorgeous, with a beautiful view of San Gimginano in the distance (especially at night), the room was spacious and comfortable, and we loved going up to the main house to eat dinner on the terrace in the evenings. I cried when I left because it felt like home. Highly recommended (although not with babies! We had a baby crying the first night in the room next to us and this kind of place should be peaceful-my only complaint-and luckily only for one night)

"Wonderful place"

10.0

We only booked one night at Fattoria Voltrona and wished we had stayed here longer. We would definitely consider using it as a base for exploring more of Tuscany in a subsequent trip. The farm was actually fairly easy to find, despite of its rural location. A GPS helps, of course, but the directions on their website were very accurate. Check in was quick and very courteous. We were showed to our room, which was at the very end of the upstairs hallway, with a view of the grounds behind the building as well as the beautiful pool. The room was quite big and the bed comfortable. The grounds outside were majestic, with the rolling hills of Tuscany surrounding us. Vines and olive trees were everywhere. The pool was definitely a highlight; the water was too cold for my taste this early in the season but my partner enjoyed her time in the cool water. It does help to have such a view surrounding you! A short walk down from the pool is a nice pond and the icelandic horses a bit beyond that. After our walk, we bought a bottle of their very nice Vernaccia wine and had a drink on the outdoor terrace behind the restaurant building. All very enchanting! We had supper at the farm and had fun eating at the same table as other guests. Dinner was average, in my opinion. It appeared to me like there wasn't that much food available, especially for the meat course, The wine however was plentiful, and very good. Unfortunately, we were leaving early to drive to Florence and catch a train so we couldn't enjoy the included breakfast. Fattoria Voltrona is definitely a place I would go back to!
