Antica Dimora San Girolamo

One of the most unique room I have ever rented. When I step out of it, I am in the middle of a beautiful little square. My wonderful breakfast was served here as well. It is just a few minutes from the coast and the centre, there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the near.

Exceptional service provided by the owners. The property is kept very authentic, a true experience of staying in an old Sicilian Pallazo. It is Situated on a tiny, pretty Piazzetta, not far from the Centro Storico.

The decor of the room was nice, the furniture is vintage and quite impressive, not looking cheap. The building and the courtyard look pretty and cozy. Very nice, soft towels, like a brand new. The room was clean and the area also looked clean, safe and close to some amenities.

1. The room. We got a room without any window or balcony. So once you enter the room and close the door behind, it is dark like in a graveyard! I felt really depressed in such a room and because it has no windows, the presence of the damp smell is quite strong. Unfortunately because of this humidity and ugly damp smell, my asthma got worse and we were ready to leave this cave early in the morning. To be clear, the information was stating that the room I booked was WITH a balcony... Not truth. 2. The staff - the young lady that was quite nice as a matter of fact, did not inform or ask us about the fact that the room was completely dark and with no ventilation. She only gave us the keys and rushed to meet her friends. The next morning there was some young boy present at the courtyard and his only question was if we want to have a breakfast (€12 per room). Nobody asked us 'how are you' even in Italian... 3. Giving us a depressing room with no windows while I booked a room with a balcony! 4. No discount and the price we paid was like for a nice room with a balcony and some view. 5. Leaking on the floor when having a shower but normally I am ok with such things. 5. No kettle, no glass or cup, no amenities to make some hot drinks. 6. High price for such conditions, while in other places around Sicily we had a beautiful, big rooms with terraces with a view, some kitchen amenities, staying in the centre and very pleasant service provided by the owners, who were genuinely interested if we are happy. And the prices were lower than here. A real shame as I was reading such nice things about the owner....it didn't happen when we arrived.
