No había disponible cafetera en la habitación o en la recepción para un café o té.

Mi hermano vino a dejarnos unas maletas y el hombre de recepción empezó a gritarnos que se había colado y que o se iba o tiraba la puerta y llamaba a la policía. Se volvió completamente loco. Eran las 16 de la tarde. Se puso como un loco a dar golpes fuertes a la puerta y que si no abríamos la tiraba.

la posizione dell’ostello imbattibile, in pieno centro, ma al tempo stesso molto molto silenzioso (almeno la mia camera che era interior). arredamento basico e un po’ datato, ma comunque letto comodissimo e ambienti molto molto puliti. la reception è aperta 24h su 24, di notte il portone sulla strada viene chiuso per garantire la massima sicurezza ma basta suonare il campanello e ti aprono all’istante. una nota di merito allo staff della reception, tutti gentilissimi

The most helpful and welcoming staff and central spotless clean room

This hostal was probably in its utmost prime in its heyday. Location is close to central but has lost its attractiveness as homeless people sleep outside its sidewalks at nights. The facilities are clean even though the curtains and the bed cover should be changed - they were old and badly stained. The bed, sheets and toilet are otherwise clean. For the price paid, the facilities are above satisfactory. Imagine how much of its lost glimmer would have been recovered if ownership invested some capital to refurbish its aged curtains, bed covers and repainted its walls? Light up and clean your sidewalks and customers would patronize this lost gem even more, earn it higher ratings.

But there is one glum person who mans the reception. He stands tall, slim, cheeks and eyes sunken the same way life and simple courteousness has been robbed and bereft from his soul. He stared me down with disdain on arrival. There was a discussion about payment method which he agreed upon - to use a different credit card to avoid higher forex charges and fees. The following day, the wrong payment method was performed but when sought for correction, he closes the counter top and dismisses me without providing explanation. Every other staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and efficient. But this one black sheep completely ruined my experience with his persistent rudeness and scowl on each entry in and out of the hostal. As long as that negative person remains employed, i would strongly suggest to stay away from this place. Madrid is a beautiful city, steeped in history, culture and vibrance, but there is nothing worse than staying in a place where you are greeted by his scowling rudeness on each entry and exit.
