OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort

This was a really unique experience The resort is beautiful, there are a lot of great experiential activities, the staff was very attentive, and the food was tasty.

This was an emotional trip back to Zeavola this April as we (my husband and i) knew it was the last time we would be staying there before the Hotel is closing for good. This was our 14th time staying here, and like every other time before, we loved every second of our stay..... The resort, the beach, the scenery and staying amongst the nature in beautiful Koh Phi Phi with the incredible weather. We who'll hold these memories forever! We've been coming here for 17 years, every year ( minus Covid), and it's our home away from home! It was wonderful to be a part of the final chapter and see our extended Zeavola Family (the staff) before the new chapter begins in November when the Hotel reopens with a new identity under the 'Outrigger Chain of Hotels. We are worried that they may not realise the uniqueness, the stunning beach and the fact that this hotel is like no other, in Thailand, and is so special set amongst the jungle and on that pristine, stunning beach. A special callout on this trip to Nico ( food & bev team) who is a wonderful , professional and engaging young man - who really looks after the guests and goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and special and he always looks after us), Laila for her huge efforts to serve and smile, Poh - Baby Frog (you make us laugh) and Chef Satya (for his amazing food). Keeping this brief, Zeavola is our perfect place on earth (we were married here and we have a "love tree" which we visit every year and our family & friends all look forward to hearing about our visits and photos of our tree every year), and we truly hope the new custodians of OutRigger do not change the hotel, the beach and the style of barefoot luxury too much. We planted a love tree many years ago and hope that our tree gets the opportunity to live on and grown high and strong with Outrigger. Thankyou to all the Zeavola staff pay and present who become our friends. We will await to see what becomes of the hotel in Oct/Nov, and hope that the neighbour's blue tractor will stop driving past everyone relaxing on the beach and disrupting what is one of the most relaxing, pristine and beautiful beaches in Thailand! We hope to return.....

This place is heaven! It feels unreal! The staff, the views, the food, everything is amazing! The mosquitoes are crazy though but it's all part of the experience! It's such a special place 💕 Thank you to everyone for making our stay so memorable!

fantastic experience. I would like to highlight the food. Everything is delicious a big congrat to the chef that we learned if from Mautitius, I also would like to highlight the bar chef called Nico. Excelent professional. I have lost one of my phones from my Airpods and got a fantastic support from a lady called Jan. She make my phone to be delivered in Bangkok 2 days after my depsrture from Zeavola. Fantastic!!! Thanks very much for this great experience

We had a wonderful stay at Zeavola resort. We booked an ocean front bungalow, 2 steps away from the lovely beach. The bungalow itself was very comfortable: spacious, good bed, large flatscreen tv with netflix, very good wifi,… really great! The breakfast was top as well! Good pool as an alternative to the beach in case you prefer that (not us). I’m a bit surprised by the negative comments, so let me be add the following. First of all, tractors on the beach are used to pickup travellers from the boats and get them back on. This happens like 4 a 5 times a day and didnt one second bother us. And of course we needed it ourselves as well. Secondly, the (very large) beach is not private, as there are 2 or 3 other resorts. But not one single moment, I had the impression that it was crowded, on the contrary. There are also 3 local restaurants and a few mini-markets, which is actually a good thing because you can eat out. And last but not least, security. Not one single moment, we had the impression that there were strangers hanging out, everything was very peaceful. Overall, we had a great stay. Staff was super friendly, and the whole resort well maintained. We would love to be back!!

We had a wonderful family holiday in Zeavola. All the staff are very kind and careful. I would like to emphasise the good service of the restaurant, with an unbelievable chef, both the lunch and dinner menus are excellent. All the dishes we tried were very good. I'd like to congratulate Nico on his excellent work! Always very attentive and friendly to all guests

Returning to this hotel, we expected an improved experience based on assurances from management. Instead, we were met with the same old issues—broken promises, poor service, and an overall decline in standards. The Beach Nightmare The infamous tractor still rumbles up and down the "private beach" at least 30 times a day, shattering any hope of peace. This has been raised in countless reviews, and yet, despite assurances in 2024 that it would be resolved, it persists. If you’re not dodging diesel fumes, you’re weaving through crowds of guests from neighboring hotels cutting across the beach—often in groups of 50 or more. Security? Almost non-existent. We had to personally alert staff multiple times as non-guests took loungers and hovered near our belongings. Fire Show Hell If the tractor doesn't ruin your day, the ear-splitting fire shows from the next hotel will ruin your evening. These occur three to four times a week, just 100 meters away, and are impossible to escape—even from the furthest cabins. Lock yourself in? Doesn’t help. And again, we were told this was "being addressed." It wasn’t. A Room So Filthy It Needed a Deep Clean As if the rest of the experience wasn’t bad enough, our room was so dirty upon arrival that it required a full deep clean before it was even remotely acceptable. How this level of neglect is possible at a so-called luxury resort is beyond us. Mosquito Spraying – But What Are They Spraying? Daily pesticide fogging happens with little to no warning, and no transparency about what chemicals are being used. Given the relentless mosquito presence, whatever they’re using is clearly ineffective. The Pool of Neglect Walking barefoot around the pool? Risk second-degree burns. The deck is scalding hot, with broken elephants, shoddy workmanship, and poorly maintained—issues raised in 2024 with zero improvement. Once again, we were misled by the hotel’s empty reassurances. A Stay That Feels Like Work What should have been a relaxing escape turned into a two-week exercise in pointing out hygiene concerns in the restaurant, overworked staff on 12-hour shifts, and the resort's general decline. Anything beyond a short stay, and you’ll start noticing the cracks—literally and figuratively.

The positives: staff are so courteous, with wondeful service ethic, as we have experienced in our Thailand travel's. The beach is also beautiful. Crystal clear waters, white sands. Brilliant. The food,although limited in choice was excellent. Well cooked, fresh, and full of flavour. The Negatives: Accommodation is not what we would expect from a premium price tag. Appreciated the 'jungle experience ethos.' however both my wife and myself experienced the most horrendous mosquito bites, even with the net intact, around the bed. Sandfly bites to my feet and legs (as diagnosed by one of the staff, after i thought that they where bedbugs as they happened at night, whilst in bed) required attention as they where becoming unmanageably difficult to deal with due to the awful itchiness, that caused 4, almost sleepless nights. We had a beach view villa. The access to the beach from the villa was via a small dilapidated concourse that was shored up with plastic sandbags, making the walk to the beach a little precarious. Not something i would expect from a premium price Villa. Tractors every five minutes, along the beach spewing out diesel fumes that fumigated the villa when the wind was in the wrong direction, also breaking any semblance of tranquility. It was so annoying, and if we had known this as a constant would probably have reconsidered our choice of resort. Appreciated that Zeavola is stuck between two other resorts, and appreciate supplies have to be transported somehow, but at the expense of customers who have paid a premium price for the priveledge of some tranquility, and the somewhat contradiction of the Zeavola Ideal of working with nature and the "jungle experience" It did somewhat ruin the beginning of our holiday, and we left Zeavola exhasted, as opposed to refreshed. I really do not want to be so deameaning of this resort, but when you spend your hard earnt money on what we believed would be a relaxing and tranquil experience, but ended up being somewhat of an effort in dealing with noise and major insect infestation. On an end note, we have travelled in Thailand enjoying Ko Yao Noi, Koh Yai Yai, and have not had the problems with the infestation of insects. This issue really does need addressing.
