Gorgeous hotel, such luxury! My first time at a Raffles and the facilities did not disappoint. Comfy beds, very spacious apartment, separate shower cubicle and bathtub. Breakfast was lovely as well. Very secure and safe place to stay, as you needed your key to operate the lift to get to the upstairs residences. Staff were generally helpful and provided an expected level of service - particularly loved the staff at breakfast!

Wi-fi was unfortunately rather patchy and it wasn't 100% clear from the outset how to access the wi-fi. The TVs had channels losing signal at times and considering the international Raffles brand, there was a surprising lack of international and English-language channels. Would have liked a slightly warmer welcome from the reception staff but they were generally helpful. Location a little odd, being right by a subway station and busy junction, meaning it was best reached by car and not easy to use public transport to get there, however that is more an issue with the subway.

The room was well furnished and equipped with all the amenities for a great stay. Having a shopping mall with a food court and restaurants in the same building was very convenient. The subway is just below the apartment and connects directly to Beijing Capital Airport, making travel easy.

Serviced Apartments - eigentlich doch ein Hotel. Anreise und Unterkunft waren sehr gut. Das Ascott liegt in einem Einkaufszentrum. Shopping ist sehr teuer, man will dort mit Eigenmarken an internationale Marken heranreichen. Ansonsten ist man an zwei Metro-Stationen und am Central-Airport-Link. Wir hatten das kleinste Zimmer - 75 m². Das findet man sonst sehr selten. "Wohnzimmer" und "Schlafzimmer". Uns hat es gefallen. Das Frühstück ist für Asiaten beinahe perfekt, für westliche Touristen ist es schon anders. Heute gibt's kaum Brot, morgen dafür keine Butter (oder nur gesalzene).... Etwas Käse und sehr bedenkliche Wurst. Aber man wird satt; Kaffee, Tee, Milch vegane Produkte sind vorhanden. In der Lobby kann man sich jederzeit einen Kaffee oder Tee zubereiten.

Aus meiner Sicht typisch chinesisch. Wir hatten das auch schon in Shanghai erlebt: Draußen sind 10°C aber es gibt keine Heizung. In der DDR haben wir gesagt: Der Minister hat Härte befohlen. Aber nach unserer Anmerkung bei der Rezeption stand am Abend ein ausreichender elektrischer Heizkörper bereit. Den haben wir dann für das Bad benutzt. Am 20. Oktober war es dann andersherum: Man konnte nicht mehr kühlen, es wurde mit der AirCon nur noch geheizt. Hier könnte man in einem Hochtechnologieland mehr erwarten. Die Nachhaltigkeit, die im Hotel überall gepredigt wird, fehlt beim Frühstück: Butter, Marmelade, Kaffeebecher - alles in oder aus Plastik. Der hausinterne Service-Roboter klingelt gern mal an der falschen Tür...
