I stayed here as a solo female traveller and my review reflects that. When I arrived, the staff at reception were very surprised I was travelling by myself, to the point I felt a bit uncomfortable. Whilst walking to my room, I was asked about my relationship status and told that everyone else staying there were couples. I have travelled the world by myself and this is the first time I have been made to feel uncomfortable so it wasn't a great first impression and I did try to avoid some staff on reception afterwards as I felt a bit judged. On the positives, the hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are spacious, the cleaning is superb and the grounds are really well kept. Loads of birds and wildlife around, the pool is nice and it's a two minute walk to a fabulous beach. They need to supply more deckchairs though or stop people getting up early to put their towels on them (you see this selfishness everyone so realistically I'm not sure what they could do to stop people being selfish idiots). Breakfast was particularly good and I found the staff here to be friendly and welcoming which was a welcome relief. The lighting at night could do with improvement. I found it a bit unsettling to walk through the resort after sunset. One morning, I was picked up before sunrise for an excursion and the whole resort was pitch black which was pretty scary! Overall I would definitely recommend but maybe not if you're a solo female traveller!!!

When reading the reviews of the resort I was a little concerned about the property, but I needn't have been. Haadson is wonderful, it's a calm, beautiful resort right next to a stunning, quiet beach. The room we stayed in was huge, well appointed, clean and comfortable. All we could hear around us was nature. The bed was a little harder than home, but still comfortable. The wildlife around the resort is fascinating and we were lucky to see hornbills. The pool was lovely, and even though the hotel was full during our stay people do go off for the day so there was no problem with sun beds. It's very much set up for adults, there's not many amenities for children. We both had a massage which was excellent and would have had another if I'd had time. Breakfast was varied and a little eclectic sometimes, but all the basics were there, with plenty of fresh fruit which was most welcome. Eggs and such were cooked to order. We had lunch a few times and dinner once at the restaurant (lunch being by the pool). Dinner was excellent, I am really note sure why it wasn't more busy. There are two or three restaurants close by, which were also great, especially Bangsak Kitchen and their lovely staff. I think the hotel could maybe do a little more to promote their excellent chefs, maybe holding a weekly theme night, or offering one dinner as part of a package? The location is remote. It's about 15 mins in a taxi to Khao Lak centre and Bang Niang. Taxi's need to be pre booked, there's no tuk tuk, uber or grab here. We went in a couple of times but were happy to stay at Haadson. Some people have complained about the road between the resort and the beach. It's a quiet road, there's no problem. The beach is pristine and I would say the best we saw in the region. On the weekend there are a few food stalls and an excellent coffee van that arrive just down the road. Recommend these to anyone.

There really is nothing I would change. I think I read that there was an afternoon shuttle to Khao Lak, but I didn't see it. I think organising a mini bus for guests to visit the Bang Niang food market once a week might be a good idea. For those without transport it might be nice to share that experience.
