Shingley Beach Resort - Whitsundays

Nice hotel and location with a great view over the port. Large room with great balconies. Great with a private garage for the car as well.

The room smelled a bit odd and the interior were a bit worn out.

The apartment was nice and big and had a nice view. The kids liked the balconies where we could sit outside and say hello to the birds. There were 2 pools to swim in which were quite clean and a nice temperature. An included lock up garage was a nice bonus. The beds were relatively comfortable.

Unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros. We were not told that no one would be there when we checked in, so wandered around for a while until someone had to call to find out where our keys were. There were no pool towels left anywhere either for us to use when reception was closed so we had to use bath towels. Reception was closed a lot of the time and when we asked for assistance in getting to the marina the receptionist said he was busy watching the Ashes. The hotel is quite out of the way so to get a coffee or food we were relying on the rainbow cafe, which had nice coffee but was incredibly expensive and also not open a lot of the time (and closed at 2pm when it was). The drain in one of our showers was full of hair when we arrived and so the shower did not drain properly; the shower itself looked like it had not been cleaned. The fans in most of the rooms looked like they had never been dusted. We stayed for 6 days and never had an offer for cleaning or new towels. We were expected to clean and put away all dishes and take out our rubbish. It didn't really feel like a "resort". Finally to mention the WiFi; signal was terrible and we had a lot of trouble even watching a Netflix movie (not using any other devices) and ended up hot spotting from one of our phones. The weather was not the best so Wifi would have been great when we were stuck inside. When I sent a message to the hotel about this issue we never received a response. We know that the hotel was aware of the issue because we heard the receptionist complaining to someone else a couple of days later. No one ever communicated with us or offered compensation. Overall we felt like there was no one at the hotel who cared about customer service.

Locale, nice size apartment, cafe handy, pools great, nice park and harbour across the road.

Dated bathroom, bathtub high step up and no ventilation

The apartment was spacious with everything you need. Beautiful view from the balcony and love the location as we could walk along the boardwalk or footpath to the Marina or Lagoon area. Also beautiful walk along turtle boardwalk. There's a cafe on site but we mostly went to the Marina for breakfast as it is so close and there's a BBQ at the pool.

No problems, enjoyed our stay very much.
