The Old Mill Inn

After a few previous disappointments on the trip, The Old Mill was welcome delight. The room was sumptuous with an absolutely gorgeous bathroom, the evening’s dinner very pleasant. However the real joy was the staff who were unfailing helpful and cheerful. The duty manager especially went above and beyond when he realised I was needing to leave early in the morning. It isn’t the cheapest but I absolutely believe you get what you pay for and it’s worth the little extra. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars is the noise. The pub is known for its music and clearly warns guests there will be live bands on Friday and Saturday. All well and good, but I stayed on a Monday night and still found there was a lot of disturbance in my room until 11pm just from the bars normal sound system (can’t imagine what it would have been like at the weekend!). Make sure to ask for a quieter room when booking or be prepared for a late one.

The waiter (older gent of foreign origins) wouldn’t leave us alone and kept bothering us at breakfast and then made my partner feel very awkward about now eating her breakfast entirely all because she was full. Made us want to leave and get out of there asap

We are experienced travellers in Scotland. If you are looking for a stay in the heart of Pitlochry, The Old Mill Inn is a lovely place to stay for so many reasons. Our last stay was our fifth stay there. Staff are always attentive and friendly. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spotless as well as having modern showers with good water pressure. Rooms are warm and cosy in the winter which, believe me, is not always the case in Scottish accommodation! Food is always good with a specials board each evening. Guests have priority bookings for the restaurant. Our most recent stay won’t be the last!

On arrival we were pleasantly greeted by someone on reception/bar who showed us to our room, which was lovely and suited our needs. We did ask if we could have an additional pillow as my husband has recently had surgery, and can only sleep upright. We were told yes, but this didnt arrive for either of our 2 night stay. The only other comments I'd make, is that the soup choice didnt change from carrot and ginger, the 3 days we were there and we thought that £11.50 was rather expensive for a glass of white wine (city prices). A most relaxing stay though in a lovely setting.
