Ryokan Hirashin

Best service I have ever received and I mean at ANY hotel, no matter how many stars! From the people at the front desk to the lady that brought us breakfast, they were all so incredibly friendly and accommodating. Location was the best! Highly recommend it!

The hotel is located within the heart of the city and a few bus stops away from Gion. Very near Tokyu Hands, Daimaru department store and lots of other shops and eateries! At the basement are two hot spring baths which is really nice to soak in after a day of going around the city. Hotel staff at reception can speak English and are very helpful!

I absolutely enjoyed this experience of a traditional hotel stay in Kyoto. Everything was absolutely fantastic: the location, cleanliness, staff. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the food in this hotel - it has to be reserved in advance...

The staff are really helpful. They were more than willing to help us find out how to get to the laces we wanted to go; on one occasion the gentleman actually walked down with to make sure that we found the station entrance. The hotel is a little bit old and in need of some repair. The beds were great and the rooms quiet.

Location is convenient enough, but does require subway transfer from Kyoto station. Close to Nishiki market and awesome ramen shops like Ippudo and Gogyo. Proximity to subway makes it relatively easy to get around. Not a traditional ryokan, but the tatami styled room was nice. We included breakfast option with our room, which was definitely worth it. The Japanese styled breakfast was amazing!

The hotel was very basic but clean. Friendly helpful staff. Traditional Japanese breakfast. We booked here because of the location and because all the other Ryokans were either booked or too expensive for our budget.

The hotel itself provides a modern and simple Japanese Ryokan experience. However, we did not find our room to be very clean (long black hairs on the floor,...). Be aware that the staff's English is very, very basic.

I think a Ryokan should be about guest service but Im not at all satisfied with the service offered here.

it's a very nice place to experience japanese style room accommodation. it's very strategic to local tourist spots.

Tatami rooms were very traditional. location awesome for downtown kyoto. Futons were not as good as other tatami rooms I've stayed in. The onsen seems to be fed from normal water and then chlorinated. Could do with some cleaning there. The bath and shower in room were a great size. The staff even offered to change our room to a larger one at no charge. Very considerate. The park next door was great for the kids. Happy with my stay.
