Silkari Mirage at Newport

Great location, a lovely sized room and a comfortable bed. Complementary breakfast was a bonus too!

The construction next door was a little noisy or it was noisy from traffic.

Loved the 2 bedroom family room. Nice and comfortable for 3x adults and 1 child.

Easy location in Newport.

Hotel is essentially a very tired 1980s motel that the owners seem to think can be transformed with a quick lick of paint while still charging exorbitant rates. The bed itself was comfortable, but the room was extremely poor overall — threadbare dressing gowns, thin old towels, cobwebs, mould, warped doors and a general sense of neglect throughout. At breakfast we ended up playing a very entertaining game of “spot the illegal building faults.” Breakfast itself was equally underwhelming: dry bread and a few small pots of yoghurt. There is also no parking at the hotel, so we had to search for a street park nearby. To top it off, our room key stopped working in the morning and there was no staff member on site to assist. Realistically, the only reason to stay here is because there are very few other accommodation options in the area.

Its location with the stunning view of the water was nice. Bed was comfortable too.

The property is tired and requires a refurbish. Lack of parking and tight confines of the parking, if you could get one, are an issue. No staff at the recreation on check out and later, I had to phone the venue as I had lost my wallet and needed urgently to check if I had left it in the room. The phone went straight to an answering machine for the 6 plus hours I was trying to make contact. The shower had mould and the bathroom was in poor condition for a hotel at this price level. At breakfast, the bacon, eggs and sausages were only luck warm. Disappointing really for the money we paid but when you have views like this Venue has, you can push the boundaries with the quality of the package!

Room was clean. Staff were lovely. Great service.
