Havana Beach Resort

Had a great time here. Room was big and comfortable, only downside was very noisy air cond unit and a plethora of mosquitoes in the room. We tried to keep them out but when staff service the room they do so with the door open so mosquitoes get in. We were eaten alive even though we used repellent. Staff are great, very friendly and welcoming. Pool was lovely and a bit more refreshing than swimming in the warm sea. Great location on a beautiful beach.

Good hotel but the location is not great. Also, the area is better for families rather than singles.

Recommended. Will be even better when the road is finished.

Completely neglected. No staff in sight at any hour of the day to help. Paid for a transfer to leave the hotel and no one showed up so had to search for a taxi at 5am. Not a single person staying in the hotel which was kind of creepy. Guard dogs at night which didnt help when the dogs surrounded you trying to walk to your room and again no staff in sight to help. Better hotels on the beach with reliable staff.

We booked two rooms and stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We were really impressed with the hotel and the experience we had there. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a nice hotel on the beach on koh phangan.

I don't often take the time to write a review, but since myself and my partner were both very pleased with our stay at Havava Beach Resort, we felt we should write this - partly as a way of saying thanks. We received a warm welcome when we arrived, and the knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating lady at reception helped us plan out our time in Koh Phangan. The room was very nice, and had character and a fair sized balcony. On our second day we arrived back to our room to find some towel sculptures and rose petals! I'm not sure if this is a standard thing they do, or if they assumed we might be on our honeymoon, but either way, it was nice, and appreciated! The location was ideal for us, there is a fair range of places to eat on this beach, and the food at Havana is really good - when on holiday we usually try somewhere new each evening, but we ate twice at Havana, and enjoyed the experience on both occasions. A short walk down the beach, and there are some nice massage places, some evening entertainment - e.g. a place with music and fire sticks, some places with louder music, other places for a more romantic meal, prices very reasonable throughout. There is a regular boat service travelling from this hotel's beach south to other beaches, and on to Koh Samui. We took this down to the next beach for a walk up a waterfall - recommended. On one day of our visit we went for a day trip snorkelling - it was a great trip. We mentioned we we'd probably miss breakfast as we would need to leave so early, and without prompting our friendly lady at reception offered to have a breakfast prepared for us so that we could eat in our room before leaving. At other hotels there had been strict rules to not use the pool after a certain time... at Havana, we'd use the pool late, and one of the staff would notice and turn on the in-pool lighting for us. All the staff we met seemed genuinely nice, happy and friendly - it's something that you can't get from 'training', but that you can get from running a business well and treating your employees well. Staff, in particularly the lady at reception, when out of their way - and beyond our expectations, to help us on a number of occasions. We would happily go back and spend more time at the Havana. The rooms are nice, the hotel has a nice garden and pool also. The room was smelly when we arrived, this was due to the aircon which smelled of mould or something. I asked at the reception for another room, but the smell was there also. Then I asked for maintenance of the aircon (cleaning, etc.) and this fixed the problem. From then on the stay was nice. The restaurant of Havana is overpriced and the food quality is not goot. Try the Nice Beach Bungalows restaurant, we liked that. Transport is very expensive on the island and the inhabitants seem to have a kind of agreement, because you get the same prices everywhere.

rooms are dark, and only window is facing the pasage so there is now privecy, breakfest was poor, and hotel insisted on not refunding when we dicided to cancel the last nigth, not at all up to the price thay charg

PROS: beautiful beach, hotel situated right on the water, cute little village, nice/helpful hotel staff, big rooms, pool and beach side massage services, breakfast included. CONS: the 'musky' odor in hotel room (although we were not in room often, the smell was overwhelming), no beach chairs on beach. If going to the full moon party the hotel is quite far (45-60 min away) and cabs will nickel and dime you to get home. Overall a nice, comfortable hotel but if I was going back I would stay somewhere else. Have fun on the island, it's beautiful!!
