SpringHill Suites by Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway

Warning: this hotel will not save your reservation if you are delayed on your flight, despite asking for no flight information upon booking. They are an AIRPORT hotel - they should know better! Yesterday the news had so much coverage that all Atlanta airports had very big delays and when I made the reservation for my elderly father I wrote in the requests/comments that he would be delayed and arriving very late (I had put midnight in their EXPECTED arrival time but he ended up getting there at 2AM- which they could have seen the delay if they asked for flight info at registration). Plenty of flights were still getting in last night super late after the delays, they should not have assumed people were not going to not show up for their room when they had an average delay of 5 hours yesterday. Clearly they just wanted to get double rates on as many rooms as possible (i.e., charge nonrefundable for the original rate then give the room to whoever shows up needing a room last minute and making double the money). Shame on this hotel for making an 80YO man sleep at the airport after a 9 hour delay due to being greedy. I hope your employees and manager feel shame for this policy. I would never book this hotel or trust them to keep my reservation. The Gateway Hotels are all owned by the same franchise so I would assume this policy applies to all Gateway hotels.

The location was great and easy to get in and out from the interstate. We were just there for one night. The rooms had a great layout and were clean. Love having the toilet in a separate room from the shower.

The pillows need to be updated! Not comfortable at all. The breakfast was good but my wife has a gluten allergy and the only option for her for breakfast was a prepackaged muffin and a kind bar. There should be some better options for people with food allergies.

Trotz Anmeldung von 4 Personen waren nur 2 Betten bereit. Nach Nachfrage hat man uns dann noch Bettwäsche gegeben, die wir dann selbst beziehen mussten. Das gleiche Prozedere bei den Badetüchern. Das i Tüpfelchen wurde dann noch mit dem Wasser aufgesetzt. Im Zimmer vorhanden war nur das USD 8 teure Wasser. Auf Nachfrage hat man uns dann 2 kleine Flaschen an der Rezeption ausgehändigt. Erst nach Protest haben wir weitere 2 kleine Flaschen erhalten. Das alles nach X Stunden Flug mit 2 kleinen Kindern. Am nächsten Morgen war man dann an der Rezeption mehr mit privaten Telefongesprächen als mit der Entegennahme von Feedback beschäftigt. Wenn das der Standard von Marriot ist, dann glaube ich nicht an die Zukunft dieses Unternehmens.

Front desk staff was extremely helpful. Room was nice with a great bathroom setup.
