Hotel Classic

As a first day stopping point after landing at Frankfurt this was ideal. Easy to reach and park and right on the light rail into a beautiful town. Kris was super helpful.

This hotel was the perfect place for a stop-over on a trip to Italy: we had a nice large clean family room, and the hotel offers an excellent breakfast buffet at a very reasonable price. The hotel is ~4km from the old centre of Freiburg, which is very worth a visit.

Located 10 mins from Freiburg center, a little out of the way, however the tram is 2 mins walk from the hotel. Staff were very accommodating and friendly and our Beagle was made welcome & there was a good area behind the hotel to walk the dog. If you are on a long drive and looking for a quick and friendly overnight stay, I would recommend the Hotel Classic.

This is a nice, nondescript family-run hotel on the "outskirts" of Freiburg. (I say outskirts only because anything more than 4km from the Altstadt is in the 'burbs.) We arrived very late (around 2230) after a rental car mishap (nail-induced flat tire with a 4-hour tow & car replacement delay) and the owner's daughter was waiting for us at the reception desk with a cheery smile. She asked if we'd eaten (no) and offered to prepare us a light meal of meats, cheeses and fruits with bread and opened the dining room just for us. That hit the spot! I really cannot say enough about the warm reception we got. The room was spacious and reasonably comfortable despite its Spartan nature. The property is impeccably well-kept and clean, the rooms too. Turns out the hotel is within 500m of a rail line, where high-speed ICE trains whiz by every hour or so (far enough to be heard, but thankfully not felt); a fresh pair of earplugs greeted us on every pillow (I thought that was a nice touch). Breakfast was good, standard German fare: meat, meat, meat, cheese, fruit, yogourt, pastries, eggs, you name it. Nothing to complain about there. All in all a great experience.

This place was the greatest! The facilities were great and the staff was exceptional, especially the proprietor himself. Location is a little out-of-the-way, but that's not really a problem with either the public transport or a personal car. I will definitely stay there again!

Very nice service. So many breakfast choices. Very hot days so we enjoyed the air-conditioning. A little far from the city, but right on the tram line, so it wasn't isolated. Great place to stay.

This hotel is lovely with a wonderful staff. American travelers should note they do not all speak English. Breakfast is a generous version of the typical German variety. A small bar in the lobby serves drinks and light snacks. Our room was enormous, very clean and included a sitting area and small balcony. It's a green hotel so they use eco friendly materials including hardwood floors in the rooms which are great fun to slide around on in your socks! There were also surprise little touches like an adjustable couch, adjustable beds and a bottle of mineral water. The location and therefore drive up to hotel was a bit lacking if you're expecting a cute little German town. The hotel itself is quite modern, simple and lovely. But it was initially a bit of a let down to find that it's located behind a gas station in the industrial outskirts of town. You want to be driving a car if you stay here. The nearest tram stop is a kilometer away and there is a rather sad, rundown area between the hotel and downtown 4km away. There is little of interest within walking distance. The exceptionally friendly woman at the front desk recommended a steak house nearby called Chariwari where we had the hands down the best meal of the entire trip (and we had a LOT of great meals in our three weeks). Pperfectly cooked steaks, veggies, sides on all counts (they use a lava stone grill) and perfectly "gemütlich" atmosphere. We had a rental car so greatly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

Hotel is about 4 miles from city centre - a taxi is about €11 for the trip. The girl on the desk told us where to park when we drove in which was very helpful. She also recommended a restaurante in Gundelfingen (Charivati) and the hotel made a booking for us. One downside is that if you have a room at the back you'll quickly notice that the railway line is freight only and rather busy most hours of the day. The freight trains were long and could be noisey at times but this is not the fault of the hotel. I think we got used to it after a while anyway. There is a nice little bar to relax in beforew going out - good prices as well.
