Ksar Shama - Atlas Mountain Retreat

The staff were brilliant! The room we had (Dome) was lovely! Food was a challenge for my kids, and the pool was full of bugs. I had to clean it myself for 30 mins to clear all the flies and bugs floating.

What is great: The property design and upkeep of the landscape is special and as advertised. The dome tent rooms are clean and as photographed. And the location is very special. We did a mule trek and Berber experience and we will never forget it - that was the best part of the stay for us. Kind people and the best lunch we had during this leg of our trip was that lunch off the hotel grounds. The staff at the hotel are hard working and kind.

The restaurant was operating at an extremely limited capacity. We found that challenging as there are no other meal options in the area. Most items on the menu weren’t available for all 3 nights we stayed. And there is no food on offer between lunch and dinner, which for kids is tough. The food itself is also not very good - it felt like they were trying for an international menu and Moroccan and coming up short on both. The coffee is instant but the tea is fantastic. The staff is kind, but there is limited hospitality so we were often calling out for people if we needed something as we weren’t able to find them.

We especially liked the views of the mountains from our dome; the grounds of the hotel were also lovely. We appreciated the hot water and great water pressure after a previous 10 days of not much of either and the beds were comfortable too! The staff were friendly and the food was of a good standard too.

Some more hanging space would be useful. And the rugs in the domes could have been softer and more colourful (given that the Atlas Mountains is known for their rugs).

Staying in the dome was an excellent and unique experience. The food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We arrived very late at night and they got us settled in our room quickly and with minimal fuss.

The only issue we had was that when we clicked on the directions button in the email from Booking.com it took us to a different hotel, 10 minutes further down the road. This would not have been a major issue, except it is a fairly treacherous mountain road and we arrived at 11:30 pm.

Staff were amazing & very helpful at all times, the scenery was phenomenal. The dome was a lot more spacious than anticipated and very well insulated with A/C.

The pool was really cold to swim in although it did look nice. The TV in the dome didn’t work all the time because the wifi connection in the dome was very weak, definitely suggest getting data.
