Aris Hotel

A neat clean and tidy hotel. Friendly staff and attentive but not in your face. Mattress was. a bit too hard for me but overall very happy with our stay.

Aris Liatakis and his family run this lovely, friendly and well situated budget hotel close to the pebble beach side of the peninsula of Paleochora. The rooms and facilities are simple but comfortable, at a great price, with nice views from either balconies or terraces (depending on your room), onto the lovely hotel gardens (full of foliage and flowers and interesting garden sculptures) or over one row of rooftops to the sea and mountains. The hotel is 5-10 minutes' walk from either the sandy or pebble public beaches, also close to some very nice restaurants, 5 minutes to the boat that goes to Elafonisi, Sougia, Agia Roumeli, etc. Nice breakfasts, including freshly squeezed orange juice, and a bar service for Greek coffee and other drinks when you need. And, importantly, really friendly, helpful and relaxed staff.

We went to Crete for a week holiday and decided to go for two nights to the south side of the island and just wanted the cheepest hotel as we where going for sightseeing and were just sleeping at the hotel. We lived at Sirios Village for the week and that was all-inclusive four star hotel. The standard on Aris room was better then Sirios. Beds where softer, pillows fantastic, and if you dont have any high expectations on the breakfast it will do. Simple and good. Freshpressed juice served at the table was very nice. At Sirios we got Fanta from a machine. We can recommend this hotel any time for anyone. Just one thing, if you want to live close to the beach this is the wrong side of the village. But its a 10 min walk in slow pace so no need to cry about it.

Good value for money. No Television in the room and the en-suite bathroom needs modernising. Ok if you are on a tight budget. The breakfast though seemed a little expensive for what was available. The location of the Aris is excellent.
