Very quirky, clean

No staff, no reception, no one to greet you, felt like the hotel was dehumanised, breakfast was included but it was very minimalistic, had to cross road to its sister hotel for breakfast

Location is amazing and free parking. Amelia was very helpful, trying to sort our issues.

We were meant to have our room cleaned on the 3rd day, but it didn't happen. We had to walk over to the derby multiple times. Asking for clean towels, toilet rolls, milk, and our tv only had 2 channels all week. There was no milk in the downstairs lounge. So again, I had to ask. Our shower only half the water came out. But we were fed up with going over. We were very disappointed. It felt like this hotel is just a second thought to the derby, and they couldn't be bothered.

Fantastic heritage property with a great back story, which is why the property was chosen. Booked the suite that was on the ground floor (the old restaurant) that was absolutely huge with a really comfortable four poster bed, good bedding and slept very well. Also very quiet area which is ideal, no noise at night and really well located. The Derby hotel for the use of the bar and for breakfast was fantastic and beautifully modern and staff were amazing and very accommodating! I would like to go back and stay at The Derby.

It was disappointing there was no staff at all at the property so if you do have any issues with your room, there is no one to speak to, only emergency numbers I.e which you are not going to call if you haven’t been given enough tea/coffee components for instance. We had the large suite on the ground floor (the old restaurant) and although I got a bit of a discount with Booking.com it still felt very over priced for the experience you actually get within the room. Ideally there should be robes and slippers as the room is huge, so a lot of walking LOL…and it is a bit chilly so a snug robe would be ideal. A mini fridge with fresh milk would be ideal for the room size. There was also an issue with lighting, as there were a few bulbs missing around the room as a whole which made the room darker than would have liked. Clearly no one is checking?? The room has a very high ceiling and there were a lot of cobwebs high up that have built up over time, not pleasant to look at tbh. The grouting in the bathroom shower needs redoing around the bottom as it was really dirty and off putting. I was also horrified to acknowledge the fire safety standards which do not adhere to fire regulations, no fire exit sign, no push bar on door leading to garden, only one fire extinguisher available, for the size of the room there should be two (water and foam) The fire extinguisher also had no maintenance info and no date for next examination, the only dates you could see were rubbed out and were very old. There was no signage to inform you of where the emergency assembly point is should there be a fire (signage that was in the room had fallen down and was left on a cabinet in the corner by the tea/coffee station. There was a double socket that was badly cracked with burn marks…very dangerous and needs to be replaced. Again, no one to speak to onsite about these issues. The room (suite) needs more luxuries and be exceptional which it was not. Would not stay again!!

The Breakfast was really good

Comfy bed with a good sized room and a nice balcony to sit at ,not far from the beach. Breakfast was ok.

house keeping is only every 3 days (1 loo roll ) short window for breakfast mon to fri .

Waking up to the natural light streaming through the beautiful windows was an experience in itself. This is far more than just a hotel room—it’s a destination and an experience that makes you feel like royalty. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something extraordinary. We can’t wait to return! 10/10 – Simply stunning. ✨🏰🛏️
